Russ Weatherford's 'Blacker,' a new play exploring Oscar Wilde's little-known brush with the Dreyfus Affair, begins an exclusive two-week engagement on Wednesday August 26 at Urban Stages, 259 West 30th Street. Directed by David Austin, and produced by Sandi Durell, the premiere of 'Blacker' plays through Thursday September 3. The official opening is also tonight, August 26, at 8pm.

Under the direction of Mark Routhier, the cast fully embraces the goofy storylines and giddy characters of this beloved comedy of manners to create an entertainingly trivial way to spend a summer evening.

La Jolla Playhouse opened its world premiere of UP HERE, a new musical comedy featuring book, music and lyrics by the husband-and-wife composing team of Robert Lopez (The Book of Mormon, Avenue Q) and Kristen Anderson-Lopez (In Transit), recipients of the 2014 Academy Award for Best Original Song for their hit song, 'Let It Go,' from the Disney animated film Frozen. For the fourth show in their 44th annual summer season, Cortland Repertory Theatre presents the Central New York premiere of the new mystery/comedy 'Sherlock Holmes & the West End Horror' by Marcia Milgrom Dodge and Anthony Dodge, adapted from the novel by Nicholas Meyer.
