MCC Theater's production of the New York premiere of Alice By Heart, the new musical from Spring Awakening creators Duncan Sheik and Steven Sater, begins previews on January 30th. The show is directed and co-written by Jessie Nelson, who penned the book for Waitress and will be the first show in the Newman Mills Theater, which is part of the new Robert W. Wilson MCC Theater Space. Alice by Heart stars Molly Gordon as Alice Spencer, a teenager forced to take shelter in an underground tube station during the London Blitz of World War II.
The Public Theater will begin previews for the New York premiere of SEA WALL / A LIFE with a Joseph Papp Free Preview performance on Friday, February 1. Written by Simon Stephens and Nick Payne respectively, and directed by Carrie Cracknell, SEA WALL / A LIFE will run through Sunday, March 31 in The Public's Newman Theater with an official press opening on Thursday, February 14. SEA WALL / A LIFE features Jake Gyllenhaal and Tom Sturridge in their Public Theater debuts.

Amazon Studios today announced it has signed an overall television deal with Emmy Award-winning producer and director Reed Morano (The Handmaid's Tale). Morano made history by being the first woman to ever win the Emmy and DGA Award in the same year for a dramatic series - both for her work on The Handmaid's Tale and was the first woman to win an Emmy in the Drama series category in 22 years. After a week the married couple tallied the votes and had a winner. Argument solved! "It's crowd sourcing to solve our fights," says Antzis, "and it worked!" The web series Settle This Thing was born.

Smart will join Britton and Eric Bana in the scripted anthology series based on the articles and breakout true crime podcast of the same name from Los Angeles Times reporter Christopher Goffard.
