Amas Celebrates 40th Anniversary W/ Benefit Gala 3/30

New York: Amas Musical Theatre (Donna Trinkoff, Producing Artistic Director; Rosetta LeNoire, Founder), will celebrate its 40th Anniversary with a Benefit Gala on Monday, March 30th, 2009. The evening will feature a special 'Blast from the Past' concert of songs and numbers from four decades of Amas Musicals, including Bubbling Brown Sugar, Zanna Don't!, Barrio Babies, Bobos, SHOUT! The Mod Musical, Four Guys Named Jose, Latin Heat, Starmites, Langston Hughes's Little Ham, From My Hometown, Lone Star Love, and Wanda's World. The director and choreographer for the evening is Amas Artist-in-Residence Maria Torres, with musical direction by Doug Oberhamer. The event will take place at the Lighthouse International, 111 East 59th Street, at 7pm.

Broadway's Tony Award-winning musical 'In the Heights' and Spanish Broadcasting System's WPAT-FM 93.1 Amor join forces to support Go Red Corazon, the American Heart Association's movement to educate women about heart health in order to live stronger, longer lives. The program, called 'Hearts in the Heights', will take place the final week in February -- American Heart Health Month.

Javier Munoz joined In The Heights for a reading in 2005 and has been involved ever since, in the ensemble and as understudy for ?Usnavi? at the O?Neill Theater Workshop and in the 2006 Off-Broadway and current Broadway productions. Lin-Manuel Miranda?s last performance will be Sunday February 15, 2009.

Speaker Christine Quinn and NYC Councilmember Miguel Martinez and Councilmember Robert Jackson will present the Proclamation to IN THE HEIGHTS' producer Jill Furman and composer/leading actor Lin-Manuel Miranda for the show's success in introducing millions of people to the vibrant neighborhood and its residents situated at the top of the island of Manhattan. The event will take place on Thursday December 18th in the City Hall Chambers.

MTV's 90-minute documentary 'Britney: For The Record,' about the singers return to the music spotlight features her visit to see IN THE HEIGHTS, including a backstage visit with the cast, and a post show dinner with cast members of the musical. MTV's 'Britney Spears: For The Record' airs November 30, at 10pm (EST).
