Round House Theatre to Present ORDINARY DAYS, 5/28-6/22

Ordinary Days, an acclaimed new musical by Adam Gwon, brings Round House's 2013/2014 season to a harmonious close as it makes its area premiere. Signature Theatre's Matthew Gardiner makes his Round House directing debut with this Off-Broadway hit by one of musical theater's most exciting new composers. Ordinary Days runs at Round House Theatre Bethesda from May 28 thru June 22. Opening night is Monday, June 2, 2014.

Jeffrey Bean, Sharon Lockwood and More to Star in Alley Theatre's 'VANYA AND SONIA'; Cast and Creatives Set!

Alley Theatre Artistic Director Gregory Boyd announces the cast and creative team for recent Tony Award-winning comedy Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike. Appearing in titles roles are Resident Actor Jeffrey Bean as Vanya, Sharon Lockwood returning to the Alley as Sonia, Alley Artist Josie de Guzman returning as Masha, and Resident Actor Jay Sullivan as Spike. Rounding out the cast and making their Alley debuts are Rachael Holmes as Cassandra and Sarah Nealis as Nina. Jonathan Moscone, Artistic Director of California Shakespeare Theater, helms the production and returns after having directed the Alley's 2011 production of Amadeus.

COMMUNIQUE N°10 Opens Tonight at the Cutting Ball Theater

Cutting Ball Theater closes its 15th season with the American Premiere of COMMUNIQUE N°10 by French playwright Samuel Gallet, in a translation by Cutting Ball Artistic director Rob Melrose, who also helms this new work. Featuring Damien Seperi, Ponder Goddard, Maura Halloran, Wiley Naman Strasser, Paris Hunter Paul, Hugo Cabajal, and Aaron Malberg, COMMUNIQUE N°10 plays tonight, April 25 through May 25 (Press opening: May 1) at the Cutting Ball Theater in residence at EXIT on Taylor (277 Taylor Street) in San Francisco.

Magic Theatre to Welcome Back Christina Anderson with PEN/MAN/SHIP World Premiere, 5/21-6/15

Magic Theatre is delighted to celebrate the return of Magic's 2011 Playwright in Residence, Christina Anderson, with the world premiere of PEN/MAN/SHIP. The production is directed by Magic Theatre's Associate Artistic Director Ryan Guzzo Purcell and will run May 21 - June 15, 2014 at Magic Theatre, Fort Mason Center, Building D, 3rd Floor. Berkeley Repertory Theatre continues the second half of its season with Tribes, a sophisticated and moving family drama by celebrated British playwright Nina Raine. Her profound and powerful new play became an award-winning hit in London and New York. Now renowned director Jonathan Moscone brings it to Berkeley Rep this April for its Bay Area premiere. Tribes follows Billy, a young man who was born deaf into a loquacious and highly opinionated academic family who raised him to lip-read and integrate into the hearing world. When he meets Sylvia - raised by Deaf parents and going deaf herself - Billy decides it's time to speak on his own terms and to be heard. Playing out in words, sign language, and sometimes mesmerizing silence, this penetrating drama examines familial love, notions of belonging, and the intersections of communication. Tribes began previews Friday, April 11, opens tonight, April 16, and closes on Sunday, May 11, 2014.

Berkeley Rep Extends TRIBES Through May 18

Berkeley Repertory Theatre announces that today, due to extraordinary ticket demand, it will extend Tribes by seven performances before its first performance. Originally scheduled to run through May 11, audiences now have the opportunity to experience the critically acclaimed family drama by Nina Raine through Sunday, May 18. Directed by Jonathan Moscone, the play follows Billy, a young man who was born deaf into a loquacious and highly opinionated academic family who raised him to lip-read and integrate into the hearing world. When he meets Sylvia - raised by deaf parents and going deaf herself - Billy decides it's time to speak on his own terms and be heard. Tribes start previews Friday, April 11, opens on April 16, and now closes on Sunday, May 18, 2014. Open-captioned performances for Tribes will take place Thursday, May 8 at 8 PM; Friday, May 9 at 8 PM; and Sunday, May 11 at 2 PM. Berkeley Rep is also proud to offer three American Sign Language-interpreted performances on Saturday, May 3 at 8 PM, Saturday, May 10 at 2 PM, and Tuesday, May 13 at 8 PM. Asolo Rep Adds THE GRAPES OF WRATH Public Presentations

Marin Theatre Company, in association with Lorraine Hansberry Theatre, will stage August Wilson's Fences, the 1950s entry into his Century Cycle (also known as his Pittsburgh Cycle) - a decade-by-decade exploration of the black experience in 20th century America. Directed by Derrick Sanders, the Pulitzer Prize and two-time Tony Award-winning play will feature veteran film and television actor Carl Lumbly as Troy Maxson, Steven Anthony Jones, the artistic director of Lorraine Hansberry Theatre, as Jim Bono and award-winning actor, playwright and director Margo Hall as Rose, as well as Oregon Shakespeare Festival's Eddy Ray Jackson as Cory, Adrian Roberts as Gabriel, Tyee Tilghman as Lyons and two Marin City youths - Jade Sweeney, who attends Willow Creek Academy, and Makaelah Bashir, Bayside Martin Luther King, Jr. Academy - splitting the role of Raynell.

Word for Word to Present Sam Shepard's 36 STORIES, 5/21-6/22

Word for Word presents "36 Stories by Sam Shepard" arranged for the stage and directed by Amy Kossow opening with a press night on Saturday May 24 8pm, running through June 22 (previews May 21-23) at Z Space's second venue, Z Below, at 470 Florida Street. Last year the Magic Theatre spearheaded a multi-theater celebration of Shepard's 70th birthday when they opened their season with Shepard's Pulitzer Prize-winning 'Buried Child.' Other companies participating in the celebration have been Crowded Fire, American Conservatory Theater in collaboration with Intersection for the Arts/Campo Santo and Word for Word.
