Summer Stages: Rhode Island Theatre Offerings

Rhode Island's ever-growing arts scene shows no signs of slowing down over the summer months. With ambitious theatrical productions planned from Providence to South County, and internationally-renowned musicians bringing sizzling concert performances to the Ocean State, summer 2014 is shaping up to be a most memorable season of stories and songs.

Kelli O'Hara, Rebecca Luker, Jason Robert Brown & More to Perform at 2014 Lilly Awards, 6/2

This year the Lilly Awards will celebrate women of distinction in musical theater in a special cabaret at West Bank Cafe (407 W 42nd Street, NYC), following the awards ceremony, which is set for Monday, June 2, at Playwrights Horizons. The cabaret will feature Kelli O'Hara, Rebecca Naomi Jones, Rebecca Luker, Kate Baldwin, Kenita Miller, The Broadway Boys, Graham Rowat, Katie Thompson, Lauren Pritchard, Taylor Noble, Jay Armstrong Jonson, The Skivvies (Lauren Molina & Nick Cearley) and Jason Robert Brown.

Project1VOICE will present FOR COLORED GIRLS WHO HAVE CONSIDERED SUICIDE/WHEN THE RAINBOW IS ENUF by Ntozake Shange in partnership with the National Black Leadership Commission on AIDS, Inc. (NBLCA) on Monday, June 16, 2014 at the Harlem Hospital Pavilion at 506 Lenox Ave./Malcolm X Boulevard in New York City. The fourth annual 1VOICE/1PLAY/1DAY event celebrates what it means to be female in the 21st century, with a focus on empowering women and girls.
