Pianist David Scheel to Play Kalk Bay Theatre, 6/28-29
by Tyler Peterson
- Jun 20, 2013
David Scheel is a true Australian success story. Born at Stirling in the Adelaide Hills of South Australia he studied at the University of Adelaide, gaining an Honours degree in languages and a concert diploma on the piano. However, coming from a theatrical family theatre was David's first love, and after a short stint on stage, in films and on television he decided - like so many before him - to try his luck in England. The gamble was so successful that it was to keep David away from Australian shores for the best part of 18 years.

Review - Where's Charley?: The Guy's Only Doing It For Some Doll

Although I'll admit to not being completely familiar with Cole Porter's See America First and George M. Cohan's The Governor's Son, it's quite possible that Frank Loesser's score for Where's Charley? could be considered the finest Broadway debut for a composer/lyricist who would eventually occupy a place on musical theatre's top tier.
