BWW Reviews: THE NORWEGIANS at Scena Theatre
by Hannah Land
- Mar 24, 2015
Scena Theatre's The Norwegians is just what the doctor ordered: dramatic hit-man thriller skewered into clever, oddball farce. As Washington, D.C. finally emerges from a mean winter, it's incredible fun to laugh over the antics that a long cold-season can bring about.

BWW Reviews: Truth, Lies, THE ADMISSION
by Robert Michael Oliver
- May 4, 2014
If you have not had the opportunity to experience this workshop production, you should not miss the opportunity to witness this rarest of theatre pieces. The Admission, by Israeli playwright Motti Lerner, does what few plays succeed in doing. The play confronts with searing honesty a reality few want to know or much less think about, giving voice to all sides of a situation that continues to rattle the world: the birth of Israel and the Israeli/Palestinian conflict. And it does so without resorting to hyperbolic rhetoric, contemptuous righteousness, or what so often happens, melodrama.

BWW Reviews: Constellation Pulls Out the Stops with SCAPIN Thru 2/16
by Andrew White
- Jan 22, 2014
With the brilliant work of Constellation Theatre, Bill Irwin's irreverent spirit is alive and well in their current production of 'Scapin,' adapted from Moliere's Les Fourberies de Scapin ('Scapin's Tricks'). It's not one of those moldy old comedies where you try to laugh like your distinguished ancestors might have laughed back in the day-It works because the production rocks, but also because the original author Moliere stole some of the best material from his stage-mates in the Italian Commedia dell' Arte, who were standup before there was standup, and whose sight gags and stock characters laid the foundation for every sitcom you love today.
