'Queen of All Media' Perez Hilton has let slip on his twitter that sources have revealed to him the news that Nolan Gerard Funk, the star of the Nickelodeon movie 'Spectacular!' has won a role in Roundabout's upcoming production of 'Bye Bye Birdie'. The next question is, has he been cast as Hugo Peabody or Conrad Birdie? As a budding teen idol, he could essay both characters will relative ease. There has been no official casting confirmations regarding those roles as of yet.
The two-hour rock musical, 'Spectacular!', which aired Monday at 8 p.m. with limited commercial interruption, drew 3.3 million total viewers and posted a 6.0 rating among Nick's target kids, ages 6 to 11. 'Spectacular!' nearly doubled Nickelodeon's average in the time period among tweens and boosted it by 59% among kids 6-11. The 'Spectacular' hit the top spot on the iTunes soundtrack listing and number 14 on the Top Album chart, and it continues to have a solid hold on its placement.
