Phoenix Arts Association presents The Nose by Nicolai Gogol (part 1 of a multi-art project Gogol?s Overcoat) in commemoration of the 200th anniversary of Nicolai Gogol. Styles, an enterprising photographer, has a small storefront in a Port Elizabeth township. When Sizwe, a migrant worker, comes in to have his picture taken, the two explore issues of image and identity under South Africa's oppressive regime. Both soaring and personal, the play's attack on the dehumanizing laws of the apartheid era resonates with surprising humor and uplifting faith in the human spirit.

The Tony Award-winning Broadway hit Spring Awakening is currently making its UK premiere at London's Lyric Hammersmith, as part the Lyric lineup. Spring Awakening is scheduled to run through February 28th. The cast is led by UK newcomers Charlotte Wakefield, Iwan Rheon, and Aneurin Barnard.

Legendary designers WILLIAM IVEY LONG and BOB CROWLEY are among the four recipients of the 2009 TDF/Irene Sharaff Awards. Five-time Tony Award winning costume designer William Ivey Long will receive the 2009 TDF/Irene Sharaff Lifetime Achievement Award for theatrical costume design, and, for his achievements as both a costume and scenic designer, Bob Crowley (also a five-time Tony Award winner) will receive the TDF/Irene Sharaff Awards' special Robert L. B. Tobin Award for Lifetime Achievement in Theatrical Design at a ceremony on Friday, March 27, at the Hudson Theatre in New York City.
