Deadline has reported that stage and film star Jake Gyllenhaal will produce and star as legendary composer Leonard Bernstein in a new biopic titled The American. 

Artistic Director Josie Rourke said, "I'm delighted to announce two new productions at the Donmar, joining the previously announced THE PRIME OF MISS JEAN BRODIE, for my penultimate season, with all three directed by women.

The final event in New Hampshire Theatre Project's provocative Elephant-in-the-Room Series of play readings and community discussion will focus on the topic of the Death & Dying, featuring a reading of Constellations by Nick Payne.  This brilliant new script, currently running on the NHTP MainStage, takes us on a journey through parallel universes and the multiple nuances of loving relationships, including how two people who care deeply about each other cope with enormous loss and end of life questions.

With the original run completely sold out, Steep Theatre Company is adding sixteen more performances of Simon Stephens' Birdland. The Wilbury Theatre Group's Artistic Director Josh Short has announced the Group's 2018/19 Main Series Season. The exciting 6 play season includes plans for revivals of classic plays from the American canon alongside experimental new works by the brightest theatre artists working today, including Paul Vogel's Pulitzer Prize-winning How I Learned to Drive, Idris Goodwin's hip-hop inspired drama Hype Man: a break beat play, Cesar Alvarez and The Lisps' 2016 avant-Americana musical Futurity, a minimalist interpretation of Arthur Miller's American classic The Crucible, Nick Payne's Constellations, and the 2015 Tony Award-winner for Best Musical, Lisa Kron and Jeanine Tesori's Fun Home, based on the graphic novel by Allison Bechdel.

Atlantic Theater Company (Neil Pepe, Artistic Director; Jeffory Lawson, Managing Director) announces a three-week extension of the sold-out US premiere of the Olivier Award-winning Royal Court Theatre production of Hangmen. The critically-acclaimed production will now play through Sunday, March 25th, 2018.

Jonathan Berry returns this spring to Steep to direct the U.S. premiere of Simon Stephens' Birdland. Stephens, who won the Tony and Olivier Awards for his The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time, is Steep's Associate Playwright, and Birdland will be the fifth of his plays to be produced by the Edgewater ensemble. Steep Ensemble Member and Jeff Award-winning director Jonathan Berry recently directed Steppenwolf Theatre's You Got Older and The Crucible. Over the years, he has consistently produced some of Steep's most notable shows, including last year's sweeping epic Earthquakes in London and Laura Wade's Posh, which won the Non-Equity Jeff Award for Best Ensemble, and was nominated for Best Director and Best Production.

Samuel French UK announced today that it will re-open a theatre bookshop in London in partnership with the Royal Court Theatre in Sloane Square. The Bookshop will be located in the theatre's Balcony Bar and will officially open on March 5, 2018.
