DANCENOW Kicks Off 2014 DANCENOW Joe's Pub Festival Today

DANCENOW presents the 2014 DANCENOW Joe's Pub Festival. Featuring works by forty choreographers and their companies, the 2014 festival will be held over four evenings from today, September 3 to 6, with an encore performance on September 13. The exciting lineup of artists features many fan favorites, including festival veterans and returning artists, alongside rising stars and festival newcomers. 2014 marks the 19th annual season of the DANCENOW Festival.

Laura Kaminsky Named AOP Composer in Residence

American Opera Projects Inc. (AOP) announces the appointment of Laura Kaminsky as its composer-in-residence commencing September 1, 2014, three days before her opera 'As One' premieres at BAM in an AOP production (performances September 4, 6, and 7). In this role, Kaminsky will bring broad expertise to AOP enabling the Brooklyn-based company to expand its mission of identifying, developing, and presenting new and innovative works of music theater by emerging and established artists and to engage audiences in an immersive, transformative theatrical experience.

Stew, Nancy Giles, Ted Keegan & More Set for SUPPER AT THE SALON at Dixon Place, 9/15

Dixon Place, Ellie Covan, founder and artistic director, proudly announces SUPPER AT THE SALON, a special evening of dinner and entertainment which will take place on the mainstage theater at Dixon Place on Monday, September 15th, with cocktails beginning in the lounge at 6:30 PM. The evening will include performances by Stew (Passing Strange), Nancy Giles ('CBS Sunday Morning'), Broadway's Ted Keegan (Phantom of the Opera, Cyrano, Camelot), award-winning aerial troupe LAVA, and more to be announced, and will be hosted by Bindlestiff Family Cirkus founder, Keith Nelson. Also that evening, four honorees will receive the iconic Dixon Place mini chair award for their contributions to the arts and support of Dixon Place: award winning actor-writer Peggy Shaw; The Jerome Foundation, celebrating its 50th Anniversary; Dixon Place Board member Eric Jensen, and theater supporter Yoshiko Kakuga.

T.R. Knight Will Return to the Stage in Samuel D. Hunter's POCATELLO at Playwrights Horizons

Playwrights Horizons (Tim Sanford, Artistic Director; Leslie Marcus, Managing Director) has announced casting for POCATELLO, the World Premiere of a new play by Obie, Drama Desk and Lortel awards winner Samuel D. Hunter (The Whale at PH, The Few, A Bright New Boise). Directed by Davis McCallum (The Whale at PH, The Few, London Wall, A Bright New Boise, Water by the Spoonful), the play will be the third production of the theater company's 2014/2015 Season.

RLTP Releases Statement on Continuing Operations in Buffalo

Road Less Traveled Productions (RLTP), a professionally run 501c3 annually serving nearly 10,000 theatre patrons and hundreds of students as well as acting as a home base to an ensemble of theatre artists, today stated it continues to sustain operations in the Market Arcade Film & Arts Centre building under a direct agreement with the City of Buffalo, the current owner of the Market Arcade Film & Arts Centre building, through the process of a building sale.

Roundabout Theatre Company (Todd Haimes, Artistic Director) just announced celebrated film star & Golden Globe nominee Emma Stone will join the cast of the Tony Award-winning CABARET and make her Broadway debut starring as 'Sally Bowles' from November 11, 2014 through February 1, 2015. Current 'Sally Bowles' Michelle Williams will play her final performance on November 9, 2014.

The Margaret Mead Film Festival, themed “Past Forward,” explores how cultural touchstones needn't be trapped in amber but can serve as important guides for modern life, during its 2014 program from October 23 to October 26. Featuring a broad spectrum of creative storytelling—including interactive documentaries, performances, and a multi-media installation—the Mead Festival strives to illuminate the diversity of peoples and cultures from around the world, and offers intimate forums for discussion with filmmakers, film protagonists, and world-renowned scholars.

Film Society of Lincoln Center to Present World Premiere of JEFF, EMBRACE YOUR PAST

The Film Society of Lincoln Center will present the World Premiere of Roger Teich and Henry S. Rosenthal's never-before-seen time-capsule work Jeff, Embrace Your Past on Wednesday, September 17 at 7PM at the Walter Reade Theater (165 West 65th Street). Tickets will go on sale Thursday, September 4.

PBS to Air Alzheimer's Documentary THE GENIUS OF MARIAN, 9/8

Playwrights Realm to Offer Limited Ticket Initiative During MY MANANA COMES Previews

The Playwrights Realm will to bring back their '1to5 Ticket Drive' initiative during preview performances for the World Premiere of MY MAÑANA COMES by Elizabeth Irwin. Tickets for the first preview start at $1 and increase by $1 for each preview performance that week (August 26 - $1; August 27 - $2; August 28 - $3; August 29 - $4; August 30 - $5). Tickets for performances on August 31, September 2 and September 3 are $15. Tickets range in price from $25 to $35 for all regular performances (September 4 thru 20). Student rush tickets are available for $10 for all performances from August 31 thru September 20.

NY Gilbert & Sullivan Players' 40th Anniversary Season Begins 10/12

The New York Gilbert & Sullivan Players (NYGASP), America's preeminent professional Gilbert & Sullivan repertory company, will kick off its 40th Anniversary Season on October 12th and for the first time in its history-will present a full schedule of performances in the heart of Manhattan's Greenwich Village. The milestone season will launch with a gala celebration on October 12th and continue with three productions of G&S classics --- Ruddigore (November 1 & 2); a holiday run of H.M.S. RLTP to Open 2014-15 Season with DEATHTRAP

Tuesday, August 12, 2014 - Road Less Traveled Productions (RLTP) has announced its first production in its 2014-2015 season, Deathtrap, by Ira Levin. The production will star David Oliver, Mike Seitz, Lisa Vitrano (RLTP Ensemble Member), Mary Jakiel, & Gerry Maher with direction under Scott Behrend.
