Robert Cuccioli, Harley Jay & More Set for Amas Musical Theatre's DISTANT THUNDER Readings

Amas Musical Theatre (Donna Trinkoff, Artistic Producer) and The Amas Musical Theatre Lab will present staged readings of Distant Thunder, a Native American Musical, with book by Lynne Taylor-Corbettand Shaun Taylor-Corbett, lyrics by Chris Wiseman and Shaun Taylor-Corbett, additional music by Robert Lindsey-Nassif, and music direction and arrangements by Michael Moricz.

Great New Writers Set for Pen Parentis Book Salon Tonight

Tonight, March 8th, the Pen Parentis Literary Salon will feature an intimate evening with three writers to watch: Lauren Acampora who wrote a story collection chosen as one of the best books of the year by Amazon, Rumaan Alam, a New York magazine journalist whose highly anticipated debut novel will be out in Spring 2016, and Helen Phillips, whose first novel was a New York Times Notable book of 2015.

Vineyard's Co-Production of INDECENT Begins Performances Next Month Off-Broadway

Vineyard Theatre, in association with La Jolla Playhouse and Yale Repertory Theatre, will present the New York premiere of INDECENT, a new play with music, written by Paula Vogel, created by Paula Vogel and Rebecca Taichman, and directed by Rebecca Taichman, at The Vineyard (108 East 15th Street) with previews beginning April 27 and opening night set for May 17. INDECENT features music composed by Lisa Gutkin (KLEZMATICS) and Aaron Halva (RED NOSES) and choreography by David Dorfman (GREEN VIOLIN). 

BAADAss Women Festival Kicks Off 3/11

?BAAD! - The Bronx Academy of Arts & Dance forges forward with the 16th annual BAAD!ASS WOMEN FESTIVAL, celebrating the empowerment of women through art, culture and performance.  The festival includes several evenings of dance, theatre, poetry, music and performance. The festival takes place at BAAD!, 2474 Westchester Avenue in the Westchester Square section of the Bronx. Ticket prices vary from free to $20.  Participants can take advantage of the Five for $5 special (you and four 'girlfriends' make a group of five and pay only $5 each with a prior reservation.)  BAAD! offers discounts to BAADGE cardholders, BCA cardholders and NALAC members, and free admission to residents of 10474 and 10461 zip codes. Ticket offers cannot be combined.

Playwrights Horizons Now Accepting $5 Lottery Entries for ANTLIA PNEUMATICA's First Preview

Playwrights Horizons begins accepting entries today, Wednesday, March 2, for the LIVEforFIVE online lottery for $5 tickets to their world premiere of ANTLIA PNEUMATICA, a new play by Anne Washburn (Mr. Burns, a post-electric play at PH; 10 Out of 12; Iphigenia at Aulis; The Internationalist).  Commissioned by Playwrights Horizons and directed by two-time Obie Award winner Ken Rus Schmoll (Iowa at PH, The Internationalist, The Invisible Hand, Red Dog Howls, Middletown, What Once We Felt), the play is the fifth production of the theater company's 2015/2016 Season.

HERE's Dream Music Puppetry Program proudly presents March of the Puppets, taking place March 11 - 19.  March of the Puppets features three unique events: "Puppet Parlor 2016" (March 11 & 12), "The Joshua Show" (March 13) and "Steve of Tomorrow" (March 16 - 19).  Performances, detailed below, take place in the Dorothy B. Clubbed Thumb Announces SUMMERWORKS Festival Lineup

?Five-time Obie Award-winning theater company Clubbed Thumb has announced the line-up for SUMMERWORKS, its annual series of new plays. Now in its 21st season, SUMMERWORKS will run May 27 through July 9 at The Wild Project (195 E 3rd Street) in Manhattan, and will feature productions of three new plays: EVERY ANGEL IS BRUTAL by Julia Jarcho and directed by Knud Adams; THE TOMB OF KING TOT by Eric Dufault and directed by Portia Krieger; and TUMACHO by Ethan Lipton and directed by Leigh Silverman. North/South Consonance, Inc. Continues Free Concert Series in March

North/South Consonance, Inc continues its series of free-admission concerts on Tuesday evening March 15 when members of the North/South Chamber Orchestra perform first performances of recent works by composers representing three generations and various aesthetic points of view. Benet Casablancas, Christopher Ha Chun, David Colson, Max Lifchitz and Carlos Rodriguez. The works by Chun and Rodriguez are being performed in collaboration with the Texas-based American Festival for the Arts (AFA). The event will be held at the auditorium of Christ & St Stephen's Church (120 West 69th Street) on Manhattan's Upper West Side. The free-admission concert will start at 8 PM and end around 9:30 PM. The auditorium is ADA accessible. No tickets or reservations needed.
