Theatre festivals are where we find groundbreaking work, work that often becomes part of our national theater canon. 

The Lyric Stage Company of Boston announces cast and creative team for MURDER FOR TWO, with Book & Music by Joe Kinosian and Book & Lyrics by Kellen Blair. Directed by A. Nora Long with Music Director Bethany Aiken, the production runs November 25 - December 24, 2016, with a press opening slated for Sunday, November 27, 3pm.

MB Stage Productions presents THE VIDEO GAMES at the Elektra Theatre, off-broadway. Performances Nov 19, 21 and Dec 3, 5 and 12th at 7:00pm and a special Black Friday performance Nov 25th at 10:00pm.

Seattle Repertory Theatre today announced complete casting for the 2015 Oliver Award-winning Best New Play, King Charles III, Mike Bartlett's runaway smash hit, a contemporary and provocative comedy drama about Prince Charles' ascension to the throne upon the death of his mother Queen Elizabeth. It is a powerful piece about press intrusion, backroom politics, and the timeless magnetism of power.

The Old Globe today announced the remaining productions in its 2017 Summer Season, including a brand-new comedy, Ken Ludwig's Robin Hood!, and a Summer Shakespeare Festival lineup featuring Robert Sean Leonard in the title role of the towering history play Richard II, directed by Erica Schmidt. Shakespeare's exhilarating tragedy Hamlet follows, directed by Old Globe Erna Finci Viterbi Artistic Director Barry Edelstein, one of the leading American authorities on the works of Shakespeare.

The Southwest Premiere of As We Lie Still adds cutting-edge production design to this spellbinding contemporary score that premiered at the New York Musical Theatre Fringe Festival in 2014.

Have you decided on your Halloween costume yet? You better get to work since it's only four days until the big night is upon us and you won't want to caught with your pants down, so to speak. May we respectfully suggest a trip to your local, neighborhood theater? Not only will you be entertained, transformed and transported - we're willing to be on this happening - but you'll also probably get some great costume ideas in the process! And there is the added bonus that the theater company might be in the business of renting out costumes which would make your efforts even easier than you first thought…

Pat Ciamacco, the curmudgeon of glee and horror, is at it again. While it seems almost by chance, the artistic director of Blank Canvas selects the likes of OUR TOWN, TWELVE ANGRY MEN and OF MICE AND MEN. But most often Ciamacco digs up such scripts as THE WILD PARTY (a play about decadence and uninhibited sexual behavior), REEFER MADNESS (the 'truth' about using marijuana), BAT BOY THE MUSICAL (the tale of a large-eyed fanged human child), TRIASSIC PARQ THE MUSICAL (a songfest 65-million years in the making), DEBBIE DOES DALLAS (a stage version of the 1978 pornographic film), and TEXAS CHAINSAW MUSICAL (the story of a handsome serial killer and his overly affectionate momma, staged complete with a 'blood zone,' where members of the audience chose, if they desired, to be bathed in fake blood!)

The latest installment of the Jersey City Theater Center (JCTC) Vanity Series, a that takes a fresh look at how our digitized online world is changing how we relate to each other, opens this week.

Here are our suggestions - our choices, as it were - for the shows to catch, the people to see, before Monday morning rolls around. Again. When work beckons, we promise you'll have so much more interesting water cooler chatter to share that you'll be the envy of everyone at the office:

LAByrinth Theater Company presents the world premiere of Homos, Or Everyone in American (tonight, October 20, through November 27) by Jordan Seavey. Homos, Or Everyone in American, directed by Mike Donahue and featuring two-time Tony nominee Robin De Jesus (In The Heights, La Cage Aux Folles) and Drama Desk Award winner Michael Urie (Buyer and Cellar, Ugly Betty, How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying), is a bitingly tender new play about trying to live and love in New York.

Nominated for a total of six Tony Awards in 2016 and winner of the Drama Desk and Outer Critic Circle Awards for Outstanding Revival of a Musical, She Loves Me, based on the same romantic story as the popular film You've Got Mail, follows Amalia and George, two perfume shop clerks who don't quite see eye to eye. Constantly bumping heads while on the job, the sparring coworkers can't seem to find common ground. After they each respond to a "lonely hearts advertisement" in the newspaper, they start to fall for their anonymous pen pals-but will love continue to blossom once their identities are finally revealed?

59E59 Theaters welcomes the return of Rhyme Town when THE CITY THAT CRIED WOLF, written by Brooks Reeves and directed by Leta Tremblay, returns for State of Play Productions' 10th Anniversary season.

Rent Control, written and performed by Evan Zes, a personal story of survival as a struggling actor living in the heart of New York City, is the official breakout hit of this year's Fringe Encore Series 2016 at SoHo Playhouse. It will be extended for an additional four weeks, running in the Huron Club, Thursdays at 7: OOPM and Saturdays at 9:00PM, October 22 - November 12.
