Valerie Hager's NAKED IN ALASKA Set for Chicago Fringe, 8/30-9/2

Legendary Hearts Productions presents Valerie Hager's critically acclaimed autobiographical Fringe Festival hit 'Naked In Alaska,' directed by Scott Wesley Slavin, at The Gift Theatre, 4802 N. Milwaukee Ave., Aug. 30 - Sept. 2 as part of the Chicago Fringe Festival.

Fordham Alumni Company to Present THE SUMMONERS, An Army Play & More

Back for its sixth summer, the Fordham Alumni Company will present six theatre and dance-pieces, each with a connection to Fordham Alumni. From a pool of over thirty applicants, these works were granted rehearsal space and time, as well as a culminating workshop performance at Fordham's Lincoln Center campus. All performances will be presented at the Veronica Lally Kehoe Theater at Fordham College at Lincoln Center (113 W. 60th St., NYC). Admission is free. The Turkish American Repertory Theatre in association with the 17th Annual New York International Fringe Festival - FringeNYC - presents Bellini and the Sultan: A Comedy in Istanbul, a unique adventure-comedy that explores how Muslims and non-Muslims can communicate and understand one another's cultures. The cast of 8 includes Alan Smith, Eliud Kauffman, Christopher McAllister, Amir Levy, Everett Goldner, Chris Olson, Temi Hason, and Kate Szekely. Performances will be staged at Venue #16: Robert Moss Theatre at 440 Studios, 440 Lafayette Street, NYC for five performances from August 13-24, 2013. Check out a first look below!

The Ruckus' Fifth Season to Include HEIST PLAY & THE DEER

Following a successful fourth season with productions at Theater Wit and the Athenaeum Theatre, The Ruckus Theater is proud to announce its fifth season in Chicago. Artistic Director Allison Shoemaker and Associate Artistic Director Joshua Davis release today a season of five new plays and workshops. First, Artistic Director Allison Shoemaker takes the helm of a revamped version of The Ruckus' first Chicago production, Heist Play. Through a workshop and development process in 2013, this production has undergone significant rewrites by playwright Mitch Vermeersch and will be performed at The Side Project (Oct. 12- Nov. 10, 2013). The Spring production, The Deer, is penned by Chicago playwright Brooke Allen (Ruby Wilder) and will be directed by Eric Hoff (Hit the Wall). The Deer will be performed at Collaboraction (March 30-April 27, 2014). Additionally, The Ruckus will present three works-in-progress in the late Spring of 2014, including new work Home After Dark by Will Bishop and two pieces to be devised by the company. HANSEL AND GRETEL, Dance, Music and More Set for Arts Centre Melbourne's Winter 2013 Season, Now thru 18 Aug

Arts Centre Melbourne will be snowed under with a flurry of family-friendly entertainment this Winter. From a retelling of The Brothers Grimm's Hansel and Gretel to a lavish dance spectacle inspired by flowers and insects, Arts Centre Melbourne has something for the whole family to enjoy during its inaugural Winter season from today 31 July - Sunday 18 August.

The Shelter to Present THIS IS A PLAY ABOUT ARTISTS at FringeNYC, Begin. 8/9

The Shelter - an ensemble of theatrical artists - begins its fifth season with THIS IS A PLAY ABOUT ARTISTS by Ginger Kearns as part of the 17th annual New York International Fringe Festival. THIS IS A PLAY ABOUT ARTISTS, which plunges the audience between two ex-lovers as they use art to relive and explore their tragic love affair, will be performed at Fringe Venue #2: CSV Flamboyan (107 Suffolk Street, btw Rivington and Delancey) in Manhattan. Nicole Rosner will direct. The show will play Friday, August 9 at 7:00pm; Saturday, August 10 at 9:30pm; Wednesday, August 14 at 10:00pm; Saturday, August 17 at 5:00pm; Sunday, August 18 at 12 noon.

After acclaimed runs in the UK and Australia, writer/performer Peter Michael Marino returns to NYC with his comic autopsy on his $6 million West End musical fiasco DESPERATELY SEEKING SUSAN in DESPERATELY SEEKING THE EXIT. Directed by Obie Award winner John Clancy, it will be performed tonight, July 28 at The Triple Crown Underground.

novaya zemlya or, a strange, new land to Play Fringe Festival

Best In Class Productions presents award-winning novaya zemlya or, a strange, new land, by Mila Golubov, as part of the 17th annual New York International Fringe Festival- FringeNYC. novaya zemlya is part coming of age story, part twisted fairy tale. Set in early 90's Ukraine, the play serves up hearty helpings of vodka, Russian roulette, and even an appearance by Baba Yaga.
