PERISTALIS (look it up!) Set for FringeNYC, Now thru 8/23

PERISTALIS (look it up!) a dark comic jazz riff written and performed by Jerry Finkelstein will be performed as part of the New York International Fringe Festival at The White Box at 440 Studios, 440 Lafayette Street, off of Astor Place. Performances will be today, August 16 at 3:45 pm, Tuesday, August 19th at 5 pm, Thursday, August 21st and 9:15 pm and Saturday, August 23rd at 7:00 pm.

CTC Closes 25th Anniversary Season with THE AMISH PROJECT, Now thru 8/24

Chester Theatre Company will complete its 25th Anniversary Season with Jessica Dickey's THE AMISH PROJECT. The production, which runs from today, August 14th through August 24th at the Chester Town Hall in Chester, MA, will feature CTC favorite Allison McLemore, star of last season's smash hit production of Tryst.

A Reimagined TWELFTH NIGHT Plays FringeNYC, Now thru 8/22

HelikonRep announced that it will produce the world premiere of THE SUN EXPERIMENT, by NYTW Emerging Playwright of Color CATHERINE YU, at the 18th annual New York International Fringe Festival. Inspired by Shakespeare's Twelfth Nightand named for 20th century philosopher Ludwig Wittgenstein's theory on the rotation of the sun, THE SUN EXPERIMENT will be directed by HelikonRep Artistic Director and Drama League Directing FellowELENA HEYMAN.

Mortal Folly Theatre Brings OVER HERE to FringeNYC, Beg. Today

Mortal Folly Theatre will present the premiere of award-winning playwright Meron Langsner's Over Here as part of the 2014 New York International Fringe Festival. The play focuses on the unlikely friendship that forms between an Israeli immigrant and a Palestinian-American in NYC in the aftermath of the September 11th terrorist attacks. Although the events of the piece take place in 2002, the subject matter remains highly topical today, especially in regards to current events. The writer states,

Simple Machine to Offer EPIMYTHIUM Staged Reading, 8/24

Simple Machine, in partnership with the Resident Lab at Charlestown Working Theater, presents a staged reading of Daniel McCoy's new play Epimythium on Sunday, August 24 at 4 PM at the Charlestown Working Theater at 442 Bunker Hill Street in Charlestown, Massachusetts. The reading will be directed by Hondo Weiss-Richmond featuring a cast of Boston-area actors. Admission is free to the public. Reservations are encouraged and can be made at simplemachinethatre.com.

Vestments of the Gods is a musical play written by Owen Panettieri with music by David Carl and lyrics by Owen Panettieri. Murder, Margaret and Me will have its North American Premiere as part of the 2014 New York Fringe Festival. Written by award-winning writer Philip Meeks, the play is a one-woman show performed by Janet Prince, who has received universal acclaim for her interpretation of British acting legend Margaret Rutherford. It is helmed by British crime novelist and director Stella Duffy.

Ralph Harris' MANISH BOY Opens Tonight at FringeNYC

Funny Big Brother Productions presents MANish BOY, written & performed by RALPH HARRIS, as part of the 2014 New York International Fringe Festival/Fringe NYC. Nominated for the NAACP Theater Award for 'Best One Person Play,' MANish BOY is directed by Oz Scott with dramaturgy by Stacey McClain.
