Mortal Folly Theatre to Bring OVER HERE to FringeNYC, Begin. 8/13

Mortal Folly Theatre will present the premiere of award-winning playwright Meron Langsner's Over Here as part of the 2014 New York International Fringe Festival. The play focuses on the unlikely friendship that forms between an Israeli immigrant and a Palestinian-American in NYC in the aftermath of the September 11th terrorist attacks. Although the events of the piece take place in 2002, the subject matter remains highly topical today, especially in regards to current events. The writer states,

"In light of what is happening in the Middle East...I believe that the idea of humanizing those people involved in the conflict is of the utmost importance. We are being bombarded (a word I hesitate to type as rockets are being aimed at my family) with images, opinions, and outrage, in the face of which it is easy to forget that there are real people in real situations having their lives torn apart. And that on a human level, we can all connect." -- Meron Langsner, interview with indie theater now

The play is directed by Mortal Folly's artistic director Katherine Harte-DeCoux, and stars Mohit Gautam and Naren Weiss (both recently seen at the Hollywood Fringe in The Abridged History of Modern Day India) and Mickey Ryan*. The play is produced by Mortal Folly Theatre and Jaki Silver and features multi-media art design by Tal and Omer Golan, lighting and scenic design by Elijah Schreiner, fight direction by Nathan DeCoux and costume design by Cara Grace Pacifico.

Over Here runs at FringeNYC Venue #11: Paradise Factory Theater Mainstage, 64 E 4th Street (Bowery & 2nd Avenue). Show times are Wed 8/13 at 8:45 p.m., Fri 8/15 at 5:15 p.m., Tue 8/19 at 2:00 p.m., Thu 8/21 at 8:45 and Sun 8/24 at 2:15 p.m. Advance tickets are available for $18 by calling 866-468-7619 or at FringeOnTheFly.com.
