This March, New York City Opera revives its colorful production of L'Étoile, the effervescent opéra-bouffe that was the break-out work of Emanuel Chabrier.

Dmitri Shostakovich's The Nose has its Metropolitan Opera premiere on March 5 at 8:00 pm, conducted by Valery Gergiev, in a visually arresting new production by artist William Kentridge that features original collage, film, sculpture, and massive projections of the artist's drawings and prints. Making his Met debut, baritone Paulo Szot performs the role of Kovalyov in the story of the Russian official who wakes one morning to discover his nose has disappeared (and taken on a higher bureaucratic rank). Based on the short story of the same name by Nikolai Gogol, the opera is what Kentridge has called an exploration of "learning from the absurd." In this production, visuals include renderings of Soviet workers, snatches of newspaper, and projections of propaganda - as well as the missing appendage in adventures ranging from delivering a speech to riding a horse.

Celebrated mezzo-soprano Laurie Rubin, a native of Encino and now a full-time resident of New York City, will return home to California on February 28 to perform a program of works by Mozart, Rodrigo, Gershwin, Sondheim, Schwartz, and Sivan, among others. The evening will also feature special guest artists. Set to benefit the Israel Guide Dog Center for the Blind,?? the concert will be held at Zipper Concert Hall at the Colburn School of Music, and the curtain goes up at 7:30pm.

The New Mel Brooks Musical Young Frankenstein, a new musical comedy from the creative team of the 12-time Tony Award winning smash The Producers, comes to Boston for a limited two-week engagement at the Boston Opera House April 20 - May 2.

Elaine Paige will celebrate the release of her concert DVD with an appearance at Dress Circle in London. Paige will sign copies of her DVD for fans beginning at 1:30pm on February 27th. The DVD is from a concert stop on Paige's 40th Anniversary Tour. The concert, entitled 'Live in Australia,' was filmed during the New Zealand/Australian tour that took place earlier this year. This specific concert took place on October 31st, 2009.

Know Theatre of Cincinnati is pleased to announce its third production of the season, Adding Machine: A Musical, with original music by Joshua Schmidt and libretto by Jason Loewith & Joshua Schmidt based on the play The Adding Machine by Elmer Rice. The 2009-2010 season of Reprise Theatre Company continues with 'A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum,' 1962's Tony-Award-winning Best Musical, March 16 to 28 at UCLA's Freud Playhouse. Directed by David Lee, the production's book is by Burt Shevelove and Larry Gelbart, with music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim.
