All signs indicate that 'Hairspray' will end it's successful run on January 18th, 2009. Official word is expected at any moment, there is also a strong chance that Harvey Fierstein will return to his Tony Winning role of Edna Turnblad to help the show go out in style.

David Mamet's 'American Buffalo,' brings in Oscar nominee Haley Joel Osment as the third member of the show's junk shop trio which already includes John Lequizamo and Cedric the Entertainer. McAnuff To Direct 'Guys and Dolls' On Broadway In Spring '09

Today it was announced that GUYS AND DOLLS will open on Broadway for the first time in 17 years in the spring of 2009 at a Nederlander Theatre to be announced. With music and lyrics by Frank Loesser and book by Jo Swerling and Abe Burrows, this production is the first joint Broadway project by director Des McAnuff and Sergio Trujillo since Jersey Boys.

HAIRSPRAY Film Sequel Coming; Waters Writing Treatment

Variety reports that New Line Cinema has just made a deal with John Waters, Hairspray's creator to pen a treatment for a sequel to the hit film. Also set to return are director/choreographer Adam Shankman, the song-writing team of Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman, and producers Craig Zadan and Neil Meron.
