With the second installment of its newest annual program, Scratchpad Series, The Playwrights Realm is proud to grant career-propelling developmental workshops to three promisingly talented, diverse and dedicated playwrights: Darren Canady, Keiko Green, and Jordan Ramirez Puckett.

After the great success of the first edition, Ricordi Berlin decided to continue its program to collaborate with young composers. Ricordilab will provide the opportunity for emerging composers to participate in a three-year collaboration with the publishing house that will publish selected works, provide international promotion for the successful applicants and will also support the laureates with expertise in the music business. Ricordi Berlin is looking for composers from various musical backgrounds with promising and unique compositional voices to enrich its roster. Works for stage are highly welcome.

San Francisco Opera Center Director Sheri Greenawald today announced the 12 recipients of the 2019 Adler Fellowship. Selected from participants of the Merola Opera Program, the ten singers and two pianist/apprentice coaches begin their fellowships in January 2019. The multi-year performance-oriented residency offers advanced young artists intensive individual training, coaching and professional seminars, as well as a wide range of performance opportunities. Since its inception in 1977, the prestigious fellowship has nurtured the development of more than 180 young artists, introducing many budding stars to the international opera stage and launching active careers throughout the world as performers, production artists, arts professionals and educators.
Berkeley Repertory Theatre today announced the full cast and creative team for Paradise Square: An American Musical. The world premiere is helmed by acclaimed director Moises Kaufman, with choreography by the legendary Bill T. Jones and a book by Marcus Gardley, Craig Lucas, and Larry Kirwan. Music by Jason Howland and Larry Kirwan, with lyrics by Nathan Tysen, and based on the songs of Stephen Foster. Paradise Square is produced by special arrangement with Garth H. Drabinsky in association with Peter LeDonne and Teatro Proscenium Limited Partnership.

Gerda's innocence charms all good people and animals she meets on the way. They help her to the royal court, and on to Lapland, where good conquers evil and the children are reunited. A prominent theme portrays how each new group Gerda encounters seeks to prolong their new friendships.

In a sculptural costume designed by artist Arlene Shechet, two-time Academy Award Winner Dianne Wiest has been perming pieces from Samuel Beckett's Happy Days this week (through October 26). The action of the play takes place within and around Madison Square Park's reflecting pool, which has been emptied by Shechet for her new, site-specific installation Full Steam Ahead.

This December, New Conservatory Theatre Center continues its not-so-traditional tradition of its award-winning production of Avenue Q. ATCO Properties & Management, one of Manhattan's preeminent owner/operators of Class-A commercial real estate, announced today that it has finalized a five-year lease for contemporary theater organization The New Group's administrative offices at 240 West 35th Street, an 18-story, 165,000 square-foot building in the Garment District. Productions in The New Group's 2018-19 season take place at The Pershing Square Signature Center (480 West 42nd Street).
