On Sunday, July 24th, it's all about the lights and the glamour of...Broadway! NewFest will screen Dori Berinstein's 'Carol Channing: Larger than Life,' a hilarious and excessively sweet documentary about the stage legend. Also on Sunday, Broadway stars Cheyenne Jackson ('Glee,' '30 Rock') and Jason Butler Harner star in Steven Williford's drama 'The Green.' The Broadway block ends with the world premiere of Elisabeth Sperling & Trish Dalton's 'One Night Stand,' which follows various participants in last year's 24 hour musical competition. The film features Cheyenne Jackson, Jesse Tyler Ferguson ('Modern Family'), chanteuse Nellie McKay, Richard Kind ('Spin City,' 'A Serious Man'), Rachel Dratch ('SNL'), Mandy Gonzalez ('Wicked,' 'In the Heights'), and Tracie Thoms ('Rent'). Yank!, which played the York Theatre off Broadway in the 2009-2010 season and which has an eye for Broadway will be given a workshop this fall in NYC, backed by the Old Globe Theatre in San Diego. The workshop will run from October 10 through November 10, 2011. According to casting notices, actors for all parts are being sought.

Marc Shaiman's work with Trey Parker and Matt Stone on SOUTH PARK: BIGGER, LONGER & UNCUT prompted Stephen Sondheim - as he told me himself - to cite it as one of the best musicals of the era. FEINSTEIN'S AT LOEWS REGENCY, the nightclub proclaimed 'Best of New York' by New York Magazine and 'an invaluable New York institution' by The New York Post, continues its star-studded Winter 2011 season with 'I Want To Live!' - an evening with NELLIE McKAY, a woman with dubious moral standards, often a guest in seedy bars... The return engagement of the critically acclaimed singer, songwriter and actress, featuring songs from her latest CD Home Sweet Mobile Home, will run from March 22 to April 2. According to The New Yorker, the new disc 'covers a wide range of pop styles, from rock and soul to Latin and reggae, and is a delight. In concert, McKay is funny and touching, ceaselessly clever and scarily talented.' While her 8:00 PM/8:30 PM early shows will offer her eclectic mix of standards and original material, the 10:30 PM 'Late Train' shows on Fridays and Saturdays will exclusively feature McKay's own distinctive compositions. McKay, who performs on piano and ukulele as well as vocals, will be joined by a trio of musicians; all shows take place at the Loews Regency Hotel (540 Park Avenue at 61st Street).

On March 7, The 24 Hour Company teamed with the Exchange to produce The 24 Hour Musicals at The Gramercy Theatre.
