Neil Patrick Harris will be playing a former rival of Mr. Schu (Matthew Morrison) who's come back to town to try to shut down the show choir. Reports Entertainment Weekly: 'Harris and on-screen rival Matthew Morrison will find themselves up for the same role in a community theater production - hence the 'Dream On' duet/showdown [that had been] teased in Ausiello TV.'

Vanessa Hudgens will star as Mimi in the premiere of Rent at the Hollywood Bowl on August 6, 7 & 8, 2010. Hudgens is best known for her breakout role in the High School Musical series as Gabriella Montez, for which she received numerous nominations and awards. Her debut album, V was certified Gold. Her second album, Identified, was released in 2008. She earned critical acclaim for her role in the 2009 film Bandslam. She will next be seen this summer in Beastly, a modern day take on Beauty & the Beast, for CBS Films and recently wrapped Zack Snyder's highly anticipated Sucker Punch for Warner Bros.

Principal photography began Friday, March 26, in New York on Columbia Pictures'/Sony Pictures Animation's hybrid live-action and animated family comedy, The Smurfs, it was announced today by Bob Osher, president of Sony Pictures Digital Productions, Hannah Minghella, president of Sony Pictures Animation and Doug Belgrad, president of Columbia Pictures.
