Taking drinks and snacks to your theatre seat is becoming as much of the Broadway experience as enjoying popcorn at the movies.

Playgoers with get a chance to enjoy the opulent interior of one of Broadway's most lavish showplaces.

The Fabulous Fox Theatre, The Muny and the Fox Performing Arts Charitable Foundation (FPACF) have announced a joint sponsorship of the first annual St. Louis High School Musical Theatre Awards for the 2016-2017 school year.  High school musicals will be adjudicated and an awards show will take place at the Fox Theatre on May 28, 2017 with winners announced in 15 categories including a Best Actress and a Best Actor who will go on to compete in the National High School Musical Theatre Awards in New York City.

Tony Award-winning Broadway producer Stacey Mindich will be presented The Commercial Theater Institute's Robert Whitehead Award for "outstanding achievement in commercial theatre producing" at a reception at Sardi's on Tuesday, March 15, 2016.

Casting has been announced for the Detroit engagement of Disney's NEWSIES. The Tony Award-winning production will begin performances at the Detroit Opera House tonight, December 15 for a limited engagement through December 27.

Casting has been announced for the Milwaukee engagement of Disney's NEWSIES. The Tony Award-winning production will begin performances at the Marcus Center for the Performing Arts on Tuesday, January 5 for a limited engagement through Sunday, January 10.

Nederlander, Estefan Enterprises, Inc and Bernie Yuman have announced the launch of an online ticket lottery, powered by Broadway Direct, for ON YOUR FEET!, the new hit musical based on the lives and music of Emilio & Gloria Estefan. Launching tomorrow, Tuesday, December 15, the lottery will open at 9:00AM each day for entries to win a limited number of $40 same-day tickets to that evening's performance at www.onyourfeetmusical.com/tickets, and will remain open until 2:00PM when winners are drawn. Winners, notified by email immediately upon the 2:00PM drawing, will have 60 minutes to claim their tickets by paying with credit card, and can pick up the tickets at the Marquis Theatre Box Office (46th Street between Broadway & 8th Avenue) 30 minutes prior to showtime. Photo ID is required for pickup, seat locations and number of tickets awarded by the lottery are subject to availability.

THE COLOR PURPLE, which opened last night to ecstatic reviews, will record its official cast album this Monday, December 14, 2015.  The new Broadway cast recording will be released by Broadway Records on January 29, 2016and can pre-ordered at Amazon.com and at www.BroadwayRecords.com.  The album is being produced by six-time Grammy Award winner Frank Filipetti.

Disney Theatrical Productions will hold an open  call audition for male dancers for the North American touring production of NEWSIES, the Tony Award-winning Broadway musical smash, in Detroit on Tuesday, December 15 at 12:30pm at Detroit Opera House/Margo V. Cohen Center for Dance (1526 Broadway Street, Detroit, MI 48226). This audition will be first come, first serve and is for technically-trained Equity and non-Equity male dancers between 16 - 22 years old of all ethnicities who can tap and sing well. 

On last night's LATE SHOW WITH STEPHEN COLBERT, Jennifer Hudson and the cast of Broadway's THE COLOR PURPLE performed the number 'Push Da Button'.

KINKY BOOTS, the smash-hit musical that brings together four-time Tony Award-winner Harvey Fierstein (Book) and Grammy Award-winning rock icon Cyndi Lauper (Tony Award-winner for Best Score for KINKY BOOTS), opens at the Fox Theatre March 29 - April 3, 2015 as part of the 2015/2016 Fifth Third Bank Broadway in Atlanta series. Tickets go on sale January 10.

Some would say you have to be crazy to call your new Broadway musical DISASTER, but as Lee Adams wrote in APPLAUSE, it's dull to be too sane.

Today, 7 December 2015, Andrew Lloyd Webber announces that following its triumphant Broadway opening last night at the Winter Garden Theatre, the West End production of School of Rock - The Musical will open at the London Palladium in Autumn 2016. Dates for the West End run will be confirmed in the New Year with details of when the production will go on sale.
