The Eighth Annual Russian Heritage Festival began its month long celebration of Russian culture in New York on Sunday June 6 from 11am to 5pm with a free outdoor festival featuring Russian foods, arts, crafts, music and dance performances at Seaside/Asser Levy Park (corner of Ocean Parkway and Seabreeze Ave.) in Brooklyn. One of the highlights of the day will be a live performance by Tatiana Ovsienko, one of Russia's most popular pop stars. A popular, annual event for people of all ages, the Russian Heritage festival will feature performances by numerous youth groups in the New York metropolitan area, performing traditional music, song and dance and wearing traditional costumes showing the diverse heritage of countries such as Russia, Ukraine, and Armenia.

Rochelle Steiner has been named dean of the University of Southern California Roski School of Fine Arts, effective August 1, 2010. Formerly Director of the Public Art Fund in New York from 2006 to 2009, Steiner has commissioned 35 public art projects with established and emerging international artists including Olafur Eliasson's The New York City Waterfalls, which is one of the most ambitious works of public art to have been realized. Steiner has also held curatorial positions in major museums in the United States and London, and she is currently a consultant for the Miami Art Museum.
Jacob's Pillow announces today that Executive Director Ella Baff will soon present the fourth annual Jacob's Pillow Dance Award to Bill T. Jones, acclaimed choreographer, co-founder, and artistic director of Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Dance Company, Tony Award winner for Spring Awakening, and director of the current Broadway hit FELA! The Jacob's Pillow Dance Award honors outstanding visionary artists and carries a prize of $25,000, one of the largest cash awards in the dance industry, to be used by the choreographer to enhance their artistry in any way they choose.

Performances began March 18 at HERE (www.here.org), 145 Sixth Avenue (between Spring and Broome Streets, enter on Dominick Street). 'ALICE IN SLASHERLAND' officially opened on Sunday, March 21 at 8:30 p.m. Performances conclude Saturday, April 10.
