Robert Spano Will Lead The ASO In Haydn's THE CREATION

Music Director Robert Spano will lead the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra and Chamber Chorus in an ASO Theater of a Concert presentation of Haydn's The Creation. Set designer Anne Patterson and Projection Designer Adam Larsen, whose work has enhanced the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra's performances of St. John Passion and Gorecki's Third Symphony, return to design Joseph Haydn's The Creation in Atlanta Symphony Hall on February 26 and 28, 2008 at 8:00 pm. Soloists include soprano Janice Chandler, tenor Thomas Cooley, and bass Derrick Parker.

STG Presents JACKS MANNEQUIN At Showbox SoDo 4/2

Seattle Theatre Group (STG) and Thrasher presents Jack's Mannequin with special guests, Matt Nathanson and Low vs. Diamond, on Thursday, April 2, 2009 at 7:30pm at Showbox SoDo. He's the ethereal voice, songwriting powerhouse and full-contact keyboardist behind Something Corporate, the piano-rock quintet praised by one critic for its 'combination of intelligent lyrics, infectious melodies, and killer piano.' Now Andrew McMahon is taking something of a spring break from the band with which he's practically lived for the last four years in order to offer up an angst-flavored side project. In the guise of Jack's Mannequin comes Everything In Transit, a highly personal theme album by McMahon and collaborators, from Maverick Records.

Orpheum Offers Dinner On Stage 2/17

Gourmands, Theatre enthusiasts, and Memphis history buffs alike will enjoy this special evening at the Orpheum. First, join Orpheum President Pat Halloran on a tour of 'The South's Finest Theatre'. The tour begins in the lobby with a brief overview of the Orpheum's 80 years, and then progresses to the stage where Orpheum Star Search champion Brandon Bailey will showcase his winning performance. Guests will also have the opportunity to see the colorful show murals that line the hall of dressing rooms where leading men such as Cary Grant and Yul Brynner , crooners like Johnny Mathis and Robert Goulet, and sex symbol Mae West prepped before performing to a sold out theatre. Enjoy a different look, the star's perspective, of the ornate chandeliers and gilded moldings of one of the oldest theatres in the country. The Orpheum joined the National Register of Historic Places in 1977.

West, Foxx & Cyrus Among New Presenters/Performers at GRAMMYS 2/8

Current GRAMMY nominees Adele, Chris Brown, and Sugarland; a special performance with Miley Cyrus and Taylor Swift; Estelle and Kanye West to perform together; and a Four Tops tribute featuring Duke Fakir (2009 Lifetime Achievement Award honoree and original member of the Four Tops), Academy Award winner Jamie Foxx, and current nominee Ne-Yo are the next round of performers announced for the 51st Annual GRAMMY Awards.

Carol Hall's HALLWAYS Gets Second Printing & Other Successes

LML MUSIC released HALLWAYS, The Songs of Carol Hall on Tuesday, March 11th, 2008 nationally in stores and online at iTunes and Amazon.com. The CD's critical and popular success has led to a second printing which was shipped Tuesday, January 20th nationally. The CD also remains available online at iTunes and Amazon.com. The first person ever to record one of Carol Hall's songs was the young Barbra Streisand. Subsequently, her songs were performed by such extraordinary singers as Tony Bennett, Barbara Cook, Margaret Whiting, Julie Wilson, Chita Rivera, Michael Feinstein, Mabel Mercer, Amanda McBroom, Lari White, Olivia Newton-John, Maureen McGovern, RuPaul, Miriam Makeba, David Campbell, Frederica von Stade, Kermit the Frog and Big Bird. Among others. She's also one of the few songwriters to have a hit Broadway show. Her classic musical The BEST LITTLE WHOREHOUSE IN TEXAS entertained Broadway audiences for almost five years, received a Grammy nomination for its cast album, and became a popular film starring Burt Reynolds and Dolly Parton. Dolly's recording of Carol's song 'Hard Candy Christmas' won an ASCAP Most Performed Country Song Award, and the film generated an ACADEMY AWARD nomination for Charles Durning, singing 'The Sidestep' as the slippery Governor of Texas.

Broadway Stars And Creatives Fuel THE ELECTRIC COMPANY 1/23

Sesame Workshop, the nonprofit educational organization behind Sesame Street, powers up this January with a new version of one of television's most beloved children's series, The Electric Company. The new series, designed to combat the literacy crisis America's second graders are facing, has been re-energized with 35 half-hour episodes for today's media-driven generation with a truly interactive experience. The series launches on PBS KIDS GO! January 19th with a special two hour sneak peek marathon before it settles into its regular weekly timeslot on Fridays beginning January 23rd (check local listings).

Blige, Tyler Perry and Magic Johnson. Anita Baker performed thrilling versions of 'One' and 'Caught Up In The Rapture' while Monica sang 'Not Gon Cry' during a tribute to Mary J. Blige.

SCR Revives INDIAN SUMMER Educational Touring Program

South Coast Repertory will revive the musical play Indian Summer, one of the theatre's most popular Educational Touring Productions, for travel to Southland elementary schools Jan. 21 - April 4, 2009. There will be a free public performance at SCR on Jan. 26. Set in the mid-19th century, Indian Summer is based on the true story of a young boy who grows up with a Native American tribe. The play directly supports California K-6 State Frameworks for History-Social Science, English-Language Arts and Visual and Performing Arts. John-David Keller directs the show written by Richard Hellesen with music and lyrics by Michael Silversher. Indian Summer features Matt Bartosch, Daniel Behnke, Eagle Young and Ellen D. Williams. Bartosch and Behnke are recent graduates of SCR's Professional Intensive Program. Sets and costumes are designed by Angela Balogh Calin. Kathleen Allison is stage manager. For over 40 years, SCR's Educational Touring Production has introduced children to theater by commissioning original musical plays which deal with important issues and making them available to Southern California elementary schools during the winter and spring. The tour reaches nearly 35,000 school children each year. Some of them will be experiencing live theater for the first time. Others will discover that their parents (or even their grandparents) saw the show when they were in elementary school.

The Judgment of Paris is conceived, directed and choreographed by Austin McCormick, with adapted text by Austin McCormick and Toby Burns.
