Playhouse Square has announced Cleveland engagements of Rodgers + Hammerstein's THE SOUND OF MUSIC and MOTOWN THE MUSICAL in Summer 2017.

Today, 18 November 2016, Andrew Lloyd Webber's West End production of School of Rock - The Musical announces the show will be extending booking at the New London Theatre to 9 April 2017.

Disney's ALADDIN features all your favourite songs from the film as well as new music written by Tony and Academy Award winner Alan Menken (Newsies) with lyrics penned by the legendary Howard Ashman (Beauty and the Beast), Tony Award winner Tim Rice (The Lion King, Aida), and book writer Chad Beguelin (The Wedding Singer).

Andrew Lloyd Webber's West End production of School of Rock - The Musical is currently previewing at the New London Theatre with opening night set for 14 November 2016.  School of Rock - The Musical is initially booking to 12 February 2017.

To celebrate the brand new production of THE SOUND OF MUSIC, Psycho Donuts has created a limited-edition donut, 'Jam and Bread," inspired by the song "Do-Re-Mi" from the acclaimed musical. Andrew Lloyd Webber's smash hit musical School of Rock - The Musical is entering its second smashing year on Broadway with a new class of cast members. Comedic actor Eric Petersen assumes the role of wannabe rock star, Dewey Finn, tonight, November 7, 2016.

The McCallum Theatre presents the new national touring production of The Sound of Music, directed by three-time Tony Award® winner Jack O'Brien, for 8 performances, Tuesday, November 22, through Sunday, November 27. BEN DAVIS (Broadway's Violet, A Little Night Music, La Boheme)will play Captain Georg von Trapp and MELODY BETTS will play The Mother Abbess with MERWIN FOARD as Max Detweiler, TERI HANSEN as Elsa Schraeder, AUSTIN COLBY as Rolf and PAIGE SILVESTER as Liesl. The production introduces Jack O'Brien's brand new discovery, KERSTIN ANDERSON as Maria Rainer.  A current student at Pace University, Ms. Anderson won the coveted role from hundreds who auditioned. 

Joie de vivre is in short supply in AN AMERICAN IN PARIS, the acclaimed Broadway musical now launching its first national tour in Boston through November 6. Inspired by the beloved 1951 MGM movie musical starring Gene Kelly and Leslie Caron, this Broadway iteration looks and feels monochromatic compared to its opulent Technicolor predecessor, but that is mostly by design. This adaptation brings the story's post World War II setting front and center, revealing a city and its inhabitants still shell shocked as they try to rebuild in the aftermath of the Nazi occupation.

Let's start at the very beginning with a few of our favorite things from the new touring production of "The Sound of Music." An outstanding orchestra, striking scenic design and magnificent nun's chorus make an immediate impression in Jack O'Brien's adaptation of the Rodgers and Hammerstein musical. Purists will be glad to see a script close to that of the original, and O'Brien has found a Maria that will delight all.

American Ballet Theatre's 2017 Spring season at the Metropolitan Opera House, May 15-July 8, will feature the New York Premiere of Alexei Ratmansky's Whipped Cream and the Company Premiere of Ratmansky's Souvenir d'un lieu cher, it was announced today by Artistic Director Kevin McKenzie.  

This national tour of The Sound of Music, is delightfully delectable, and most importantly different. Rodger and Hammerstein's much-loved The Sound of Music is the tale of postulant Maria who is hired as a governess for the militaristic Von Trapp family. The movie portrayal starring Julie Andrews leaves big expectations looming over the cast and crew, yet amidst huge pressure this production shines.

John Tiffany returns to the West End for the first time since the international critical hit Harry Potter and the Cursed Child: Parts One and Two, to bring his acclaimed production of The Glass Menagerie to the Duke of York's Theatre for a limited season.

Last night (19 October 2016), Duke Fakir, the last remaining original member of legendary Motown group The Four Tops, attended the performance of Motown the Musical at the Shaftesbury Theatre and joined the West End cast on stage for the finale when he and the company received a standing ovation from the sell-out audience.
