Porchlight Music Theatre and Artistic Director Michael Weber are proud to announce the final production in its 2017 - 2018 season of Chicago's hit musical revue series, New Faces Sing Broadway. New Faces Sing Broadway 1975, hosted by Donica Lynn with direction by Christopher Pazdernik and music direction by David Fiorello, is Tuesday, June 5 at The Skokie Theatre, 7924 Lincoln Ave., Skokie at 7:30 p.m. and Wednesday, June 6 at The Arts Club of Chicago, 201 E. Ontario Street, at 6:30 p.m. (The Arts Club presentation also includes a pre-show reception at 6:30 p.m. with performance at 7:30 p.m.). In tribute to the original New Faces series that ran on Broadway and on film from 1934 - 1968, Porchlight Music Theatre created the Chicago musical revue series, New Faces Sing Broadway as a showcase for the best emerging music talent now performing on Chicago stages. Each edition is a "time-machine" journey from the start to the finish of an entire musical season from the classic days of Broadway, peppered with photos and films of the era in an exciting multimedia presentation with a favorite Chicago theatre veteran like Donica Lynn hosting and introducing the next generation of music theatre artists while acting as your guide through a vintage year on the Great White Way. Tony-nominated Broadway actress Loretta Ables Sayre will celebrate her 60th birthday at Blue Note Hawaii in Waikiki on April 1 [her actual birthday] with shows at 6:30 p.m. and 9 p.m. Ables Sayre's performances will feature jazz standard selections from the Great American Songbook. Joining Loretta will be Hawaii-based musicians Jim Howard on piano, Dean Taba on bass and Darryl Pellegrini on drums. In addition, she will be joined by special guest artist Robert Cazimero.
The Grammy-nominated Clayton-Hamilton Jazz Orchestra, which captures the infectious fun of big band music, will perform at the Younes and Soraya Nazarian Center for the Performing Arts (The Soraya) on Thursday, April 5 at 8:00pm. Jazz Times called the Los Angeles-based band, with a 32-year history, "one of current jazz's most vital large ensemble." Co-founder bassist John Clayton is a CSUN alumnus who has gone on to play with superstars such as Michael Jackson, Patti LaBelle and Madonna.
Award-winning multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, and producer Brian Culbertson is known for his distinct brand of genre-crossing contemporary jazz, R&B, and funk. With love, romance, and his recent 20th wedding anniversary serving as inspiration, Culbertson crafted 13 new songs that will be released as Colors of Love on Valentine's Day. The ensuing three-month US concert tour will make a stop in Columbus, bringing Colors of Love to life in a vivid, theatrical production that incorporates video elements in a major way.
The acclaimed Broadway musical The People in The Picture is heading west! Having garnered Tony winner Donna Murphy a best actress nomination, the show will begin its run at the famed 3 Below Theater in San Jose, CA, on April 12th. The musical was also nominated for Drama Desk and Outer Critics awards in 2011 for outstanding book and music.

The genre-bending Augie Rey makes his Blue Note Hawaii debut and Tavana returns to the stage by popular demand.

Vocalist Kyra Gordon with Pianist and arranger Larry Steelman bring hypnotic and far-out arrangements of two iconic singers: Janis Ian and Janis Joplin. In "Loving Janis" the stylistic interpretations of both Janis Joplin and Janis Ian will encompass jazz, rock and folk arrangements of the iconic performers. Epic song classics including "At Seventeen"; "Jesse"; "Piece of My Heart"; "Bobby McGee" and others will be joyfully sung in a heartfelt tribute by singer-songwriter Kyra Gordon.
