Grassroots Shakespeare have added an extra two weeks to their run of Twelfth Night at Leicester Square Theatre following popular demand. The show is part of the Shakespeare 400 celebrations.
The Daily Mail writes that Duncan Macmillan's play PEOPLE, PLACES AND THINGS will move from the National Theatre's Dorfman to Wyndham's Theatre this coming March. Performances will begin after Martin McDonagh's HANGMEN ends its run at the venue.
Kenneth Branagh's highly-anticipated New York stage debut in an immersive and visceral staging of Macbeth at the Park Avenue Armory officially opened last night, June 5. Branagh is a five time Academy Award nominee and will be making his NY stage-debut in this production. The production also stars Alex Kingston who is well-known for her role in Doctor Who, as well as Richard Coyle, Scarlett Strallen, Tom Godwin, Edward Harrison, Dylan Clark Marshall, and Kate Tydman. GRASSROOTS SHAKESPEARE LONDON is the only company performing Shakespeare in the West End for Shakespeare's 450th birthday. The four star production starring BBC's James Alexandrou as Iago and Ian Charleson Award nominee Nari Blair-Mangat is sold out throughout the birthday week, with the final performance on the 450th anniversary of Shakespeare's baptism, 26th April.
Tom Bateman, Mark Bonnar, Harry Lloyd and Finbar Lynch join Eve Best in John Webster's great Jacobean tragedy, The Duchess of Malfi, directed by Jamie Lloyd. Eve Best last appeared at The Old Vic in London and on Broadway opposite Kevin Spacey in A Moon for the Misbegotten in the 2006/2007 Season. The Duchess of Malfi will open at The Old Vic on 28 March 2012, previewing from 17 March.
