Submissions are open to writers from all stages in their career and who are currently living in the UK. The Lyric especially encourages writers who live and work in West London and from people who are currently underrepresented in the UK theatre industry including people from ethnically diverse backgrounds, who are d/Deaf or disabled, who are non-binary, LGBTQIA+, who have caring responsibilities.
The programme provides one-week of free space in the Lyric Studio, advice sessions with the Lyric team (covering areas including artistic, producing, fundraising, technical, production management or marketing), technical support and access to office resources such as printing, scanning and desk space including computer access.
Full casting and creative team is announced today for Heart of Hammersmith, the Lyric Hammersmith Theatre's first large-scale community play celebrating true stories of West London with a cast of over 40 local people, aged from 11–88 years, running in the Main House from Thursday 12 to Saturday 14 August.

The Lyric Hammersmith Theatre today announced casting and releases images for its summer reopening production Out West. Esh Alladi will play a young Gandhi in Tanika Gupta's The Overseas Student, Tom Mothersdale will play new father Jack in Simon Stephens' Blue Water and Cold and Fresh and Ayesha Antoine will play security guard Donna in Roy Williams' Go, Girl.
Heart of Hammersmith will take over the main house this August, bringing together a cast of over 40 West Londoners, including 17 young members, aged 18-25, made up of first time actors, a secondary school teacher, drag artist, call centre worker, students, new graduates and community volunteers.
ArtsEd has announced the appointment of theatre and film director, Nicholai La Barrie to their Board of Trustees. The appointment was made in March, just prior to the government's Covid-19 lockdown restrictions. Nicholai is an Artistic Associate at Lyric Hammersmith and has been a MOBO Fellow.
Scheduled to open in Spring 2021, Brixton House is taking the opportunity during lockdown to look back on some of its brilliant productions from its Ovalhouse days. Four productions that were filmed by LIVR, the 360° virtual reality theatre platform, will be released across four weeks. Random Selfies from Mike Kenny, WHITE and GREY from Koko Brown, and Derailed from Little Soldier will each be available free on the Brixton House website for one week only.
The Lyric Ensemble, a group of aspiring young actors aged between 18-25 years old, present their newly devised play The Mob Reformers between Wednesday 19 and Saturday 29 June at the Lyric Hammersmith Theatre. This performance marks the culmination of nine months of industry training at the Lyric Hammersmith Theatre, preparing these young actors for a career in theatre.

The Lyric Hammersmith will be bringing its Evolution festival back for a fourth year. Evolution showcases artists aged 18-25, celebrating the ground-breaking and exciting work being produced by young people in the capital. The multi-art form festival will run from Friday 1 March - Wednesday 13 March 2019.
