Showtime Announces Sequel to THE L WORD

Celebrating the 15th anniversary of the original's premiere, SHOWTIME has announced an eight-episode order for a sequel to its groundbreaking hit series THE L WORD, scheduled to premiere by the end of 2019. Marja-Lewis Ryan (The Four-Faced Liar, 6 Balloons) serves as showrunner and is executive producing with series creator Ilene Chaiken and original series stars Jennifer Beals, Katherine Moennig and Leisha Hailey. The announcement was made today by Gary Levine, President of Entertainment, Showtime Networks Inc., at the Television Critics Association's Winter Press Tour.

Bryan Cranston to Star in YOUR HONOR For Showtime

Oscar nominee and Emmy, Golden Globe(R), Screen Actors Guild(R) and Tony(R) Award winner Bryan Cranston (Breaking Bad) has signed on to star and executive produce the new SHOWTIME limited series YOUR HONOR. The series is a legal thriller that rips through all strata of New Orleans society. Cranston will star as a respected judge whose son is involved in a hit-and-run that leads to a high-stakes game of lies, deceit and impossible choices. The 10-episode limited series will be executive produced by Emmy nominees Robert and Michelle King (The Good Fight, The Good Wife). Peter Moffat - whose Criminal Justice served as the basis for The Night Of - serves as showrunner, executive producer and will write multiple episodes, including the first episode. YOUR HONOR will go into production later this year in New Orleans. The announcement was made today by Gary Levine, President of Entertainment, Showtime Networks Inc., at the Television Critics Association's Winter Press Tour.

Shaggy to Host the GRAMMY Awards Premiere Ceremony; Will be Streamed Live

The GRAMMY Awards Premiere Ceremony® will take place at Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles on Sunday, Feb. 10, from 12:30–3:30 p.m. PT, and will be streamed live internationally via GRAMMY.com. Preceding the 61st Annual GRAMMY Awards® telecast, the Premiere Ceremony will be hosted by GRAMMY® winner and current nominee Shaggy and will feature a number of performances by current GRAMMY nominees. Currently slated to perform are singer/songwriter Snatam Kaur, trumpeter Craig Morris, and dance/electronic duo Sofi Tukker. Nigerian Afrobeat artist Seun Kuti and Malian singer/songwriter Fatoumata Diawara will take the stage together to perform. Additionally, for the first time ever, Ángela Aguilar, Aida Cuevas, and Natalia Lafourcade will unite to perform the Mexican folkloric classic 'La Llorona,' which all three have recorded during their careers.

AMC to Simulcast Season Two of BBC America's KILLING EVE

AMC Networks announced today that AMC will simulcast season two of the critically acclaimed BBC AMERICA series “Killing Eve,” starring Golden Globe®, Critics' Choice Award and SAG Award-winner Sandra Oh and breakout star Jodie Comer, on Sunday, April 7 at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT.

Pop Orders Two Comedy Pilots, BEST INTENTIONS and RIDE OR DIE

Pop has ordered two half-hour comedy pilots, Best Intentions, from American Pie writer Adam Herz, A+E Studios and Howard T. Owens and Ben Silverman's Propagate; and Ride Or Die, from writer Matt McConkey (Paramount Network's Heathers),The Gotham Group and Nomadic Pictures.

STRANGER THINGS' Cara Buono to Host the ADAPT Leadership Awards

Edward R. Matthews, CEO of ADAPT Community Network, announced its 2019 ADAPT Leadership Awards Gala to take place on Thursday, March 14th, at Cipriani 42nd Street in New York City. The event will be hosted by Cara Buono, co‐star of the hit Netflix series Stranger Things, and Emmy‐ nominee for her role on Mad Men. The awards honor the accomplishments of extraordinary individuals and corporations who have made an impact on people with disabilities and have inspired others through their professional and charitable endeavors. The gala benefits the important ongoing programs and services of ADAPT Community Network. This year's honorees will be announced next month.

BWW Review: Week of January 20 in Comedy Television!

This week in comedy pulled all the stops--original, emotionally effective episodes abounded on many of the major networks. Love was tested, hearts were broken, romantic comedy tropes were turned on their head. Oh, and there were a lot of laughs. That too.

NBC Names Mike E. Winfield Winner of 2019 StandUp NBC Competition

NBC has named comedian Mike E. Winfield as the winner of its 15th annual StandUp NBC competition, the network's annual nationwide search for comedians of diverse backgrounds. Winfield has been awarded a talent holding deal with NBCUniversal and a headlining spot at the National Association for Campus Activities (NACA) annual convention where he will perform for talent bookers from across the country. He will also headline the regional semi-finalist showcases for the 2019 StandUp NBC competition.

Showtime Acquires CARTER & JUNE

Octane Entertainment has sold the action-packed, stick 'em up, whodunit caper Carter & June, from the producer of the cult hit Napoleon Dynamite, to Showtime Networks it was announced today by company president Jack Campbell. Showtime will offer the film On Demand February 1st, 2019 and air as part of premium programming February 7.  The film played theatrically in New York, California and Texas in Summer 2018.

Cyrus Meher-Homji Awarded Medal Of The Order Of Australia

Cyrus Meher-Homji, General Manager, Classics and Jazz, Universal Music Australia is awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) for service to the performing arts, particularly through music. The Order of Australia is the pre-eminent means by which Australia recognises the outstanding and meritorious service of its citizens and announced today as part of the Australia Day 2019 Honours List. The award is approved by the Governor-General of the Commonwealth of Australia, representative of the Australian monarch, Queen Elizabeth II.
