Rhythm World Showcases American Tap and Percussive Dance

The Chicago Human Rhythm Project (CHRP) offers its 21st annual Rhythm World, the oldest and most comprehensive festival of American tap and contemporary percussive art in the world, July 25-August 7, 2011 in downtown Chicago.

Joyce Theatre Presents Winners From A.W.A.R.D. Show at Joyce SoHo, 5/31 - 6/5

The Joyce Theater Foundation, Inc. is pleased to present select winners and finalists from The A.W.A.R.D. Show! series of 2009 and 2010 at Joyce SoHo from May 31- June 5. In shared programs, twelve winners and finalists from series at The Dance Center of Columbia College Chicago, On the Boards (Seattle) and Joyce SoHo (New York City) will perform works that they either showed in their respective cities or that they created after they received cash awards

RADIO PLAY Closes At PS 122 May 29

Reggie Watts and Tommy Smith's RADIO PLAY, now in performances at Performance Space 122, will close at May 29, 2011. Modeled after radio programs of yesteryear, RADIO PLAY gathers a group of actors, musicians and sound-effects artists to create a surreal sonic entertainment. Songs, stories and soundscapes collide in a comedic mash-up of non-temporal quasi-political pop-cultural tropes.

Galerie Lelong at Art HK 11

Participating in Art Hong Kong is another step in Galerie Lelong artists' distinguished history in Asia and the Pacific Rim. Museum participation began with a 1937 Japanese exhibition on Surrealism which included the work of Joan Miró. Since the 60's, Miró's work has been presented in a number of monographic exhibitions in Japan. Alberto Giacometti's first monographic exhibition in Tokyo took place at the Minami Gallery in 1958, and Giacometti in Asia recently toured Japan and Singapore from 2007-08.

JOBZ Plays PS122 For soloNOVA 5/21-28

In his newest show inventive musician and monologuist Joseph Keckler (New Museum, Joe's Pub, HUMAN JUKEBOX) joins forces with Drama Desk Award-winning director Josh Hecht, and violinist Dan Bartfield to take the audience on a ride through the underworld -- the underworld of low-level jobs the performer has held in the New York art world.

Redmoon's Youth Spectacle 2011 Will Take Place 5/18-20

Audiences of all ages from diverse Chicago neighborhoods will gather to witness a major cultural event designed, authored, built and performed by the young people of Chicago May 18-20 at the Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum. Produced by Chicago's acclaimed large-scale spectacle theater company, Redmoon, the first-ever 'Youth Spectacle' will give Chicagoans a fantastical glimpse into the way local youth experience and interpret the natural world every day.
