Playwrights Horizons Presents KIN, Opens 3/21

The Playwrights Horizons (Tim Sanford, Artistic Director; Leslie Marcus, Managing Director) World Premiere production of KIN, a new play by Bathsheba Doran (Living Room in Africa, her adaptation of Great Expectations at The Lortel) will officially open On March 21.

Zaccho Dance Theatre Returns to YBCA, 4/15-17

Zaccho Dance Theatre presents internationally acclaimed choreographer Joanna Haigood's performance installation The Monkey and the Devil, created in collaboration with visual artist Charles Trapolin. Haigood's visceral hybrid of dance, theater, and visual art combines contemporary movement, hip-hop elements, and spoken text in an energetic production that is both searing and immediate.

Lehmann Maupin Gallery Announces Tim Rollins and K.O.S. Exhibition, 3/24-4/30

Lehmann Maupin Gallery announces its second solo exhibition of works by Tim Rollins and K.O.S. (Kids of Survival), on view 24 March - 30 April, 2011 at 540 W. 26th Street. Harris Theatre Features Renee Fleming, Pinchas Zuckerman, 3/9

On Wednesday, March 9, 2011, the Harris Theater for Music and Dance presents Fanfare for an Uncommon Woman: A Celebration of Joan W. Harris on Her Birthday, an extraordinary performance that is certain to be the musical event of the season. Preeminent soprano Renée Fleming and virtuoso violinist Pinchas Zukerman headline this exceptional concert to benefit Harris Theater programs. They will be joined by the spectacular Emerson String Quartet, acclaimed cellist David Finckel and impassioned pianist Wu Han of the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center, the electrifying Escher String Quartet, and Stephen Burns, brilliant trumpeter and artistic director of the Fulcrum Point New Music Project. The evening begins at 5:30 pm with a champagne reception for all guests in the Theater lobby and is followed by a 75-minute concert at 6:30 pm. Kate Shepherd Presents 'And Debris' at Galerie Lelong, Opens 3/24

Known for paintings with deeply resonant colors and an understated yet assured use of line and space, Kate Shepherd presents new paintings and sculptures that convey a distinct sense of unease, ruin, and disarray largely unseen in her previous work. In And Debris, Shepherd takes the structures and rational forms that have been her hallmark and upends them, collapsing and reworking them to expose their tenuous nature and the anxiety in the everyday. And Debris opens to the public at Galerie Lelong on Thursday, March 24 from 6 to 8 pm. The artist will be present.
