Magnus' THE STRANGE Set for Nashville Premiere

Kristin McCalley Landis and Tamara Todres will star in the Nashville premiere of Jenny Magnus' The Strange, produced by The Chicago Talking Machine Company at the Centennial Black Box Theater, 211 27th Avenue North, March 21-26.

Boulder Arts Week 2016 to Kick Off 3/31

Over 100 artists and arts organizations are expected to participate in Boulder Arts Week 2015, taking place March 25 through April 2. This annual, weeklong celebration of the robust arts community in Boulder will feature a diverse range of arts and entertainment in venues throughout the community. Boulder Arts Week will offer fine art, sculpture, dance, theatre, music, cinema, and outdoor art experiences at traditional venues, such as the Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art, Macky Auditorium and the Dairy Center for the Arts, as well as unexpected venues including retail stores, community centers, street corners, and churches.

Lehmann Maupin Presents Hernan Bas' BRIGHT YOUNG THINGS Exhibition, 3/10

Lehmann Maupin is pleased to present Hernan Bas' Bright Young Things, the artist's fourth solo exhibition with the gallery, featuring new paintings on canvas and paper. Bas draws from a pool of references found in art, poetry, religion, mythology, film, and literature. In this recent series, he turns his attention specifically to 1920s London, and a group of young, bohemian aristocrats that emerged post-World War I. The artist will be present for an opening reception at the gallery on Thursday, March 10 from 6-8 PM.

eighth blackbird Wins 4th GRAMMY Award; HAND EYE Album Out This April

eighth blackbird, Chicago's fierce and vibrant contemporary classical sextet, has won a 2016 GRAMMY Award for Best Small Ensemble/Chamber Music Performance for 'Filament' (September 2015; Cedille Records), featuring music by Bryce Dessner, Philip Glass, Nico Muhly, and Son Lux.

ARTBOOK to Open Contemporary Art Store at Hauser Wirth & Schimmel, 3/13

On March 13th, ARTBOOK will open a new arts and culture bookstore in the Downtown Los Angeles Arts District. Known for its distinctive pop­up stores at art fairs, and its museum bookstores at MoMA PS1 and the Walker Art Center, ARTBOOK was invited by Hauser & Wirth to create a destination bookstore within the gallery's new Los Angeles location?—?Hauser Wirth & Schimmel?—?in a converted historic flour mill complex.

David Zwirner Books to Join Lineup for LA Art Book Fair 2016, Today

David Zwirner Books is pleased to participate in the fourth edition of Printed Matter's LA Art Book Fair 2016, marking its first time exhibiting at the fair. The special presentation will focus on quintessential Los Angeles artist Jason Rhoades (1965–2006).

DCASE's 'OnEdge' Live Performance Series Begins Next Week

The Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events (DCASE) presents the third annual OnEdge, the experimental live performance series, February 19 - March 4, 2016.  The FREE admission series will feature Chicago and world premieres from national and international artists and companies at venues including the Chicago Cultural Center (78 E. Washington St.), the Storefront Theater (66 E. Randolph St.) and Links Hall (3111 N. Western Ave.). 

Joffrey Ballet to Present WINNING WORKS Program, 3/5

CHICAGO – The Joffrey Academy of Dance, Official School of The Joffrey Ballet, and the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago present four World Premieres in the sixth annual “Winning Works” program, the culmination of Joffrey's 2016 Winning Works Choreographic Competition. This year's Competition winners - Jeffrey Cirio, Christian Denice and Mariana Oliveira each choreographed a work, along with a fourth by Joffrey Academy Artistic Director Alexei Kremnev, titled Coco + Igor. All four works are performed by dancers from the Joffrey Studio Company and the Joffrey Academy Trainee Program. The Joffrey Academy of Dance's “Winning Works” program is presented at the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago's Edlis Neeson Theater, 220 E. Chicago Avenue, over three performances only: Saturday, March 5, at 3:00 PM and 7:30 PM and Sunday, March 6 at 3:00 PM.

Cid Pearlman to Debut Final Work in 'ECONOMIES' Trilogy at Felix Kulpa Gallery

Santa Cruz, Calif. -- Cid Pearlman Performance and Felix Kulpa Gallery have announced the world premiere of ECONOMIES OF EFFORT: 3, the third and final work in a triptych of performance installations on the theme of 'economy.' ECONOMIES OF EFFORT: 3 opens at the Felix Kulpa Gallery in Santa Cruz, Thursday, March 17, and runs two weekends through March 27. It continues at the Joe Goode Annex in San Francisco, Friday to Saturday, April 8 - 9.

Miller Theatre Opens 2016 Composer Portraits Series with Ashley Fure Tonight

Miller Theatre at Columbia University School of the Arts opens its 2016 series of Composer Portraits with Ashley Fure, featuring the International Contemporary Ensemble (ICE) and David Fulmer, conductor, tonight, February 4, 2016, 8:00 p.m. at Miller Theatre (2960 Broadway at 116th Street).

ANRI SALA: ANSWER ME Opens Today at the New Museum

In February 2016, the New Museum will present a major exhibition of the work of Anri Sala, whose innovative and rigorous work has garnered critical acclaim. Though Sala has exhibited internationally since the late 1990s, 'Anri Sala: Answer Me' will mark his first solo presentation at a New York museum. The exhibition will be on view from today, February 3, through April 10, 2016.
