BWW Review: CITY OF ANGELS Jazzes It Up at NextStop
by Keith Tittermary
- May 16, 2016
The Broadway composer Cy Coleman is completely underrated. His range of musicals stretch from traditional musical (Little Me) to 60's pop (Sweet Charity) to comic operetta (On The Twentieth Century). His greatest triumph is the hard jazz / film noire musical City of Angels. On Saturday night, the DC area professional premier opened at NextStop Theatre in Herndon, Virginia.

BWW Reviews: GHOST, THE MUSICAL at SoLuna Studio
by Melissa Giordano
- May 28, 2015
It is a brave decision for a local theatre to take on a show that was not exactly well received for its Broadway run. However, it seems that if it is derived from a popular movie it is certainly worth the risk and, in the end, people will attend the show. In seeing Ghost, The Musical at SoLuna Studio, you will see it is an excellent decision to add this show to their 2015 season.
BWW Reviews: THIS WONDERFUL LIFE is an Evening of Masterful Story Telling
by Frank Benge
- Dec 1, 2014
Simply said, Martin Burke delivers masterful story telling in a tour de force production of THIS WONDERFUL LIFE. In the course of the evening, Mr. Burke singlehandedly tells the story of "It's a Wonderful Life" playing all the characters… twice. He, aside from narrating, portrays some 29 different characters in what is a dazzling performance.
BWW Reviews: No Day But Today To See RENT At SoLuna
by Melissa Giordano
- Jul 17, 2014
I'm always cautious in seeing a regional production of Jonathan Larsen's Rent as I have become a Renthead over the years. The thing to remember is art has different interpretations. SoLuna Studio Artistic Director and Owner Karen Braun fantastically directs and choreographs this slightly reimagined take on Mr. Larson's Tony and Pulitzer winning musical. Running through July 27th, some adjustments were made for SoLuna's vision including an unexpected twist the last moment of the show.
