O'Neill Represented in NYC by SIGNIFICANT OTHER, IN TRANSIT and More

The Eugene O'Neill Theater Center celebrates dozens of shows on Broadway, off-Broadway, and in theaters across the globe this 2016-17 season. Projects from the National Playwrights Conference and National Music Theater Conference have moved on to significant productions and even the Academy Awards. 

BWW Review: Good Theater's THE MAY QUEEN Journeys from the Mundane to the Poetic

Good Theater's Executive/Artistic Director Brian P. Allen has a remarkable sixth sense about choosing plays whose situations and characters resonate with originality and empathy. The latest production, Molly Smith Metzler's The May Queen, is an engaging portrait of five small town characters who all work in the local insurance agency and whose lives and paths remain interconnected because of their shared high school past. Metzler's comedy explores the surface banality of these characters, as it slowly and skillfully makes its way toward revealing some deeper poetic truths.

Hit Comedy ELEMENO PEA to Open This Winter at Citadel Theatre

Citadel Theatre's 2016-17 season continues with Molly Smith Metzler's Elemeno Pea, a comedy about social class and sibling rivalry that premiered at the 2011 Humana Festival of New Plays and has since enjoyed productions across the country in prestigious theaters like South Coast Repertory in southern California, Pittsburgh's City Theatre and Atlanta's Horizon Theatre. 

Good Theater Presents 33 Days of Continuous Theater

Good Theater the professional company in residence at the St. Lawrence Arts Center, 76 Congress Street, Portland, will open its next main stage production, THE MAY QUEEN on January 25.  In addition the company will present three performances per week of A.R. Gurney's LOVE LETTERS.  From January 25-February 26, the company will offer 33 days of continuous theater giving nine performances per week.

Good Theater VANYA AND SONIA AND MASHA AND SPIKE

Good Theater, the professional theater company in residence at the St. Lawrence Arts Center, will kick off its 15th Anniversary Season with the Portland premiere of the 2013 Tony Award winning Best Play, Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike by Christopher Durang and directed by Good Theater's Artistic Director, Brian P. Allen  The show will begin on Wednesday October 19 and play for five weeks through Sunday November 20 for a total of 30 performances.

Playwright Zayd Dohrn Returns to Chautauqua Theater Company with THE PROFANE

Chautauqua Theater Company (CTC) and the Chautauqua Writers' Center have proudly partnered on their third new play commission, coming July 22 to the Bratton Theater stage.  This year's commission, The Profane, is written by the celebrated CTC New Play Workshop alum Zayd Dohrn (Sick - 2008, Muckrakers - 2012).  Directed by CTC Artistic Director Vivienne Benesch and playing July 22 - 31 at the Chautauqua Institution. Tickets are $35 and are currently on sale.

THE MAY QUEEN at The Cape Playhouse

The May Queen, the sassy, new office comedy, has its Cape Playhouse premiere as the fourth play in in the historic theatre's 90th anniversary season. Directed by Amanda Charlton, it plays a two week engagement, July 26 - August 6; press night is set for Tuesday, July 26 at 7:30 pm.

Cody, Foster, Spangler and More Join The Cape Playhouse's 90th Season!

Broadway will come to The Cape Playhouse this summer as Hunter Foster, Jen Cody, Nick Spangler, and Kaitlyn Davidson come to the theatre in a season of Playhouse premieres and Broadway favorites. Erik Orton, Guest Artistic Director, today announced the casting for the historic theater's 90th Season in Dennis, MA. Six shows - a mix of comedies, dramas, and musicals - will play from June 7 - August 30, 2016.

Geva Theatre Center to Stage Molly Smith Metzler's THE MAY QUEEN

A new comedy by Molly Smith Metzler closes the 2015-2016 ESL Wilson Stage Series as Geva Theatre Center presents The May Queen. Directed by Amanda Charlton, The May Queen runs in the Elaine P. Wilson Stage from May 3 through May 29.
