The Susan Smith Blackburn Prize has announced 10 Finalists for its prestigious playwriting award, now celebrating its thirty-fifth year.

The theatre programme for the Manchester International Festival 2013 has been announced. MIF13 commissions include: The Machine, The Old Woman, Macbeth, The Masque of Anarchy and The Rite of Spring.

Silence by Moira Buffini will be presented by Large Print Theatre at the Jack Studio, Tuesday 5 - Saturday 23 March 2013 at 7.45pm. Press night: Thursday 7 March at 7.45pm.

Summit Entertainment, a Lionsgate company, has acquired the rights to 'Breed,' a novel by Chase Novak aka Scott Spencer. Summit has hired Burr Steers to write and direct the horror thriller which David Heyman and Jeffrey Clifford of Heyday Films will produce. Recognizing the tremendous potential of the novel, Mulholland Books ordered a sequel novel to follow Breed before it was published in September 2012.

Brian Friel's adaptation of Ibsen's seminal work, Hedda Gabler, will open at The Old Vic tonight, 12 September. Directed by Anna Mackmin, this major new production will star Olivier award-winning actress Sheridan Smith in the title role with Darrell D'Silva as Judge Brack, Buffy Davis as Bertha, Daniel Lapaine as Eilert Loevborg, Anne Reid as Juliana Tesman, Adrian Scarborough as George Tesman, and Fenella Woolgar as Thea Elvsted.

Iconic stage and screen actress Kathleen Turner returns to Arena Stage at the Mead Center for American Theater to star in Red Hot Patriot: The Kick-Ass Wit of Molly Ivins, as the feisty, unforgettable political journalist.
