North Shore Music Theatre's production of GREASE runs through August 24. BroadwayWorld has a first look at the cast in action below!

GREASE is the world's #1 rock 'n roll musical and it will be hand-jivin' across the stage at Bill Hanney's award winning North Shore Music Theatre (NSMT) for two weeks only. GREASE begins performances today, August 12 and plays thru Sunday, August 24. Press night is scheduled for Wednesday, August 13 at 7:30 pm.

There have been a lot of versions of Jim Jacobs and Warren Casey's (book, music and lyrics) GREASE that I've seen over the years. Only one, New Line Theatre's brilliant staging a few years back, actually adhered to the musical as originally conceived. The majority have followed the template laid down by the 1978 movie version that was tailored to fit the stars; Olivia Newton-John and John Travolta. That's the version currently gracing the stage of The MUNY, although it features a number of interesting changes, beginning with a choral version of the opening "Alma Mater" that actually utilizes the lyrics to the song "We Go Together". It's certainly an entertaining ride, and is much improved in many ways over the version staged here back in 2007.

The last time I had the pleasure of guest blogging for BWW, I was in rehearsals for the 2010 revival of La Cage Aux Folles; I've since traded the lipstick and high heels for thick eyeglasses and argyle sweaters. For the sixth year, the Ogunquit Playhouse, America's Foremost Summer Theatre, is joining the fight to eradicate polio worldwide by hosting Rotary Night at the theatre. The Ogunquit Playhouse will donate a portion of every ticket purchased to Grease for tonight's 8:00 p.m. performance to the York Rotary Club. The Playhouse seeks to raise $5,000 to support Rotary International's goal of eliminating worldwide polio.

In an Ogunquit Playhouse season that will launch regional premieres of Billy Elliot, The Witches of Eastwick, The Addams Family and performances of an all time favorite, Mary Poppins, the season opener of Grease is a musical lightweight.

Paper Mill Playhouse concludes its 75th Anniversary Season with America's favorite musical, GREASE. With book, music and lyrics by Jim Jacobs and Warren Casey, Grease will be directed by Daniel Goldstein with original choreography by JoAnn M. Hunter. Additional songs are by John Farrar, Barry Gibb, Scott Simon and Louis St. Louis. Grease will play the Millburn, New Jersey, theater from May 28 through June 29, 2014.
