50 Shades! The Musical - The Original Parody at The Elektra Theatre (300 W. 43rd Street), will begin performances on Friday, February 21st with opening night set for March 12th. Directed by Al Samuels and Rob Lindley, 50 Shades! the Musical - The Original Parody is produced by Royal Mile Entertainment, Andrew Asnes, Rob Kolson and 50 Shades Tour LLC. Men Are From Mars - Women Are From Venus LIVE!, the one-man fusion of theatre and stand-up starring Peter Story, is a light-hearted theatrical comedy based on the New York Times #1 best-selling book of the last decade by John Gray, will play the Marcus Center's Vogel Hall on March 14-15. Review - Lend Me A Tenor & The Broadway Musicals of 1937

If the Broadway revival of a few years back demonstrated the deadly results that can occur when overthinking and underplaying a quality farce, the new Paper Mill mounting is a fast a furious example of Ken Ludwig's madcap Lend Me A Tenor done right.  Director Don Stephenson doesn't throw any fancy curveballs with the material, but he and his perfectly cast company of Broadway vets nail every door slam and verbal ping-pong volley with hilarious aplomb.

On Sunday night the stars of Toronto's musical theatre scene came out to pay tribute to Des McAnuff as he received an honourary doctorate from Ryerson University for his contribution to the arts over the last few decades. Including cast members from the original Toronto production of Jersey Boys and the current Stratford Festival production of Jesus Christ Superstar, the evening was filled with good music and fantastic tales from Des' extraordinary life. AMERICAN IDIOT Garners 12 SF Critics Circle Noms.

This year's Critics Circle Awards, sponsored by Actor's Equity Association, today announced is nominees for excellence in San Francisco Bay area theater. Berkeley Rep's production of American Idiot, which played in the fall of 2009, leads with 12 nominations and will open on Broadway this spring.
