Underscore Theatre Company has announced the world-premiere production of Borderlands: Three Chords and the Truth, with book and lyrics by L.C. Bernadine and music and additional lyrics by Erik Olsen, directed by Underscore's Artistic Director, Alex Higgin-Houser. Based on the book A Guitar and a Pen: Stories by Country Music's Greatest Songwriters, Borderlands will be Underscore's first production eligible for the non-equity Joseph Jefferson awards. Underscore Theatre Company closes its 2013 season with an unprecedented interpretation of Richard O'Brien's The Rocky Horror Show. Directed by Underscore newcomer Lauren Lundy and with musical direction by Spencer Meeks, "The Rocky Horror Picture Show Live" runs for four nights in October at the Chopin Theatre at 1543 West Division.
Quest Theatre Ensemble presents the world premiere musical, The People's Passion Play, which chronicles the creation of the universe and key Biblical events through the Passion and Resurrection. The musical is written by award-winning, Chicago-based Playwright/Director/Puppeteer Andrew Park with original music by Scott Lamps.
