Taproot Theatre Extends SMOKE ON THE MOUNTIAN HOMECOMING Through 8/22

Taproot Theatre Company has extended the run of the hit Smoke on the Mountain Homecoming through August 22, giving people two more weeks to experience this toe-tappin', knee-slappin', heartwarmin' bluegrass gospel extravaganza. The regional premiere of this musical has been delighting audiences since it opened on July 10.

Late-Night Improv Returns to Taproot Theatre's Mainstage 7/24, 7/31, 8/7

Taproot Theatre is bringing Late-Night Improv back to the Mainstage this summer for three hilarious evenings of fun. Following the performances of Smoke on the Mountain Homecoming on July 24 and 31 and August 7, Taproot's improvisers will take the stage to entertain audiences with their imaginative sketches based on audience suggestions. Performances start at 10:15 p.m., or shortly after the Mainstage performance ends.

Goodman Theatre is proud to present the world premiere of Naomi Iizuka?s newest work, Ghostwritten directed by Lisa Portes as part of the Goodman's Strong Women, Strong Voices Owen Theatre Series. The 2004 recipient of the Joyce Award, Ghostwritten runs April 4 thru May 3, 2009 in the Owen Bruner Theatre. Tickets are $10 $39. Joyce Award-recipient Naomi Iizuka brings her tale of family ties, a lingering debt, mystical stories-and magical food-to the Goodman stage in her newest work, Ghostwritten, April 4 - May 3, 2009. Lisa Portes, who has shepherded this play from its first appearance at the 2007 New Stages Series, directs its world-premiere production with a cast of Chicago favorites led by Lisa Tejero (Mirror of the Invisible World and Metamorphoses) and Kim Martin-Cotten (King Lear).

Full Casting Announced for 'Lone Star Love'

LONE STAR LOVE, a new musical comedy starring Academy Award nominee Randy Quaid in his Broadway debut as Colonel John Falstaff, has announced full casting as it begins rehearsals this week for its Seattle engagement at The 5th Avenue Theatre, September 8 - 30. LONE STAR LOVE will open on Broadway on Monday, December 3 at New York's Belasco Theatre; previews will begin Thursday, November 1.

'Five Course Love' Comes To The Minetta Lane

Geva Theatre Center (Mark Cuddy, Artistic Director) and Five Course Love Company LLC will present the lip-smacking new musical comedy Five Course Love with Book, Music & Lyrics by Gregg Coffin at the Minetta Lane Theatre, 18 Minetta Lane (between Sixth Avenue and MacDougal Street).
