The Visual Effects Society (VES) is pleased to announce the nominees for the 11th Annual VES Awards, which recognize outstanding visual effects artistry in 24 categories of film, animation, television, commercials and video games.

Last year Nnenna Obioha and Onyinyechi Egeonuigwe created the fashion and events production company, Africa Fashion Week Los Angeles (AFWLA, LLC.). Produced by the University of Houston's School of Theatre & Dance, HSF continues to grow by offering more guest artists and additional opportunities to engage with the performances.

Now in its 7th year, National Dance Week-NYC (NDW-NYC), a yearly festival that advocates dance conditioning and wellness, will offer more than 100 FREE dance, fitness and wellness classes over the course of 10 days, starting June 17, 2011. The festival will commence with a flash mob in Union Square followed by a kickoff event at Union Bar on Wednesday, June 15. A culminating performance to celebrate NYC arts will take place at Salvatore Capezio Theater at Peridance on Sunday, June 26 and will feature presentations by American Tap Dance Foundation: Tap City Youth Ensemble, Aveia, Ballet Noir, Billy Elliot the Musical, COBU, Creative Outlet Dance Theatre of Brooklyn, Flamenco con Magdalena, The Hip-Hop Dance Conservatory, and Marie-Christine Giordano Dance.

The Marx Brothers, Mae West, Sophie Tucker, Bert Williams, Florence Mills, Eva Tanguay and more are headed your way when Voices of the Town - A Vaudeville Salute! invades the South Street Seaport. The show, which is geared for all ages, will be at Melville Gallery (213 Water Street just above Fulton) on October 26 at 7PM.

Our Time Theatre Company (Taro Alexander, Artistic Director; Chelsea Lacatena, Associate Artistic Director), a non-profit organization dedicated to providing an artistic home for young people who stutter, will hold its Third Annual Benefit Gala and will continue its tradition of honoring a person who has been an inspiration to people who stutter.
