The Perry-Mansfield New Works Festival (perry-mansfield.org/events/3/new-works-festival) now in its 18th year, brings performing arts professionals together in the Rocky Mountains to continue Perry-Mansfield's founding principle of nurturing new talent through new work. This year's festival, taking place on June 12-13 in Steamboat Springs, Colorado, will feature new works from some of America's most prestigious theater companies: Atlantic Theater Company, Denver Center for the Performing Arts Theatre Company, Primary Stages, andSouth Coast Repertory. The companies will showcase four different new works in partnership with Perry-Mansfield.
Lives of the Saints, a world premiere collection of delightfully funny and unforgettable short plays by David Ives (All in the Timing, Venus in Fur) and directed by Tony Award winner John Rando (All in the Timing, On The Town, Urinetown), is currently playing at Primary Stages at The Duke on 42nd Street - a NEW 42ND STREET project. The 17th Annual Perry-Mansfield New Works Festival, scheduled to be held June 13 - 14, announced three theatres coming together in the Rocky Mountains to develop new works. Actors Theatre of Louisville (Kentucky), Primary Stages (New York) and South Coast Repertory (California) are confirmed for the festival that is presented under Artistic Director Andrew Leynse (Artistic Director, Primary Stages), Producer and Director of Theatre Emily Tarquin (Denver Center Theatre Company, CO) and Executive Producer Jim Steinberg. The festival is sponsored by The Harold and Mimi Steinberg Charitable Trust.
Aspen's acclaimed Theater Masters will present workshop reading of two new plays: 'To Boldly Go!' by Nick Carr and 'The Infinity Pond' by Maria Alexandria Beech on April 7th and 8th at The A.W. Dreyfoos School of the Arts Black Box Theater (501 South Sapodilla Ave) in West Palm Beach. Admission is FREE!
Primary Stages continues their 29th season with The Tribute Artist, a new world premiere comedy written by and starring Tony-nominee Charles Busch (The Divine Sister, The Tale of the Allergist's Wife, Olive and the Bitter Herbs). Directed by Busch's long-time collaborator Carl Andress (The Divine Sister, The Third Story), the cast will also feature Mary Bacon(Harrison, TX...; Giant), Cynthia Harris (Lost in Yonkers, 'Mad About You'), Julie Halston (Olive and the Bitter Herbs, Anything Goes) Keira Keeley (Angels in America, The Glass Menagerie), and Jonathan Walker(The Assembled Parties, The Divine Sister). The Tribute Artist runs January 21-March 16 at Primary Stages at59E59 Theaters. Opening night is Sunday, February 9 at 6pm.

Primary Stages held their annual Gala last night, November 11, at The Edison Ballroom (240 W. 47th Street). The event honored Tony Award-winning playwright Christopher Durang and President of the General Counsel at Dramatists Play Service, Stephen Sultan. The evening featured performances by Rachel deBenedet (Catch Me If You Can, Addams Family), Alan Paul (Grease, Oliver!, Manhattan Transfer), Michele Ragusa (Urinetown, Ragtime, A Class Act, Adrift in Macao), and Alton F. The production will star Ema Lakovi? (Displaced Wedding), Casey Biggs ('Star Trek: Deep Space Nine'), Alex Mickiewicz (Williamstown Theatre Festival), and Catherine Curtin ('Orange Is the New Black').
