BWW Review: DESIRE: Tennessee Williams in Others' Words

Zeitgeist Stage Company introduces new faces that meld into an impressive ensemble to convey the unusual and flawed characters from the mind of Williams and the pens of half a dozen eclectic playwrights in DESIRE: AN EVENING OF PLAYS BASED ON SIX SHORT STORIES BY TENNESSEE WILLIAMS. A self-admitted aficionado of Williams, Director David J. Miller mixes and matches his cast to meet the challenge of portraying diverse personalities.

THE WAR BOYS Enters Final Weeks at Access Theater

Naomi Wallace's searing psychological drama The War Boys, directed by James Will McBride, is entering its final two weeks at Access Theater (380 Broadway, NYC). Performances continue through April 16, 2017.

Hartford Stage to Present James Lecesne's Critically-Acclaimed Solo Show THE ABSOLUTE BRIGHTNESS OF LEONARD PELKEY

After a critically-acclaimed sell-out run in New York City, playwright,  performer and activist James Lecesne will bring his inspirational solo show, The Absolute Brightness of Leonard Pelkey, to Hartford Stage from Thursday, March 30, through Sunday, April 23.  The play deftly navigates the effects of bullying and the search for identity while telling an uplifting story about love, overcoming prejudices, and being true to one's self.

Comic Drama STOP KISS by Diana Son Comes to Birmingham Festival Theatre

Stop Kiss is the third show of Birmingham Festival Theatre's 'All You Need Is Love' Season. It is a poignant comic drama written by American playwright Diana Son that tells the touching story of Callie, a traffic reporter, and Sara, a new schoolteacher from St Louis, coming to work in The Bronx. While making their way in 1998 NYC, their paths cross and hearts become entangled. Sharing confidences about their careers, boyfriends, and families their affection grows deeper until a sudden event changes their lives forever. The play is a contemporary story about the thrills of love and perils of intolerance that moves from laughter to sorrow without missing a beat.

New York Theaters and New York University to Present FESTIVAL IRENE

Hero Theatre announced today that the company's program Festival Irene: Celebrating the Legacy of Maria Irene Fornes, will transfer to NYC this fall after a successful run in Los Angeles. The festival of plays, presented as staged readings, includes some of Fornes' most celebrated works, in addition to featuring plays written by her award-winning students.
