The Firehouse Theatre Presents MARY POPPINS

"In every job that must be done, there is an element of fun," says the nanny to her young charges, Jane and Michael Banks, just before introducing them to the genius idea that, "a spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down!" Bardway, Baby! is back at the Utah Shakespeare Festival for its sixth annual night of musical entertainment. Bardway, Baby! is a late-night concert event which, this year, will feature the music of Walt Disney productions. TNC's Dream Up Festival of New Works to Run 8/30-9/20

From August 30 to September 20, 2015 Theater for the New City (TNC), under the direction of Crystal Field, Artistic Director, will present its sixth 'Dream Up Festival,' a festival of adventurous theater featuring new works from across the country and abroad. The 13th Annual 5th Avenue Awards Winners Announced Honoring High School Musical Theatre

High school students from across Washington State packedThe 5th Avenue Theatre tonight for The 13th Annual 5th Avenue Awards Honoring High School Musical Theater, a high school version of the Tony Awards, proudly sponsored by Wells Fargo with additional support from Alaska Airlines. The house was packed with over 2,000 teenagers, many in costumes representing their schools' musical theater productions, who cheered for their peers as they performed musical excerpts and accepted awards honoring top student achievements in musical theater. The acclaimed event, directed this year by Kat Ramsburg, handed out awards in 21 categories ranging from Outstanding Overall Musical Production to Outstanding Lobby Display.

York Theatre Company to Stage Four New Works as Part Development Readings Series This Month

 The York Theatre Company and its acclaimed Developmental Reading Series will present four new works during the month of June:  Orville and Wilbur Did It! a play byDavid Zellnik with songs by Mr. Zellnik and Eric Svejcar; Juliet and Juliet, based on a concept by Natalie Tenenbaum and Sean Patterson, with book and lyrics by Mr. Patterson, and music by Ms. Tenenbaum;  Elsie Janis and the Boys with book & lyrics by Carol Crittenden and music by John T. Prestianni; and Grounded for Life with book by Pat Hazell and Bill Habeeb, lyrics by Lawrence Goldberg and Mr. Hazell, and music by Mr. Goldberg at The York Theatre Company at Saint Peter's (619 Lexington Avenue, entrance on East 54th Street, just east of Lexington Avenue).  The readings are open to the public with a suggested donation of $5.00. 

Photo Coverage: DOCTOR ZHIVAGO Cast Records Album

The new Broadway musical Doctor Zhivago, which opened at the Broadway Theatre on April 21st, 2015, recorded its cast album on Thursday, May 28th. Authors include composer Lucy Simon (The Secret Garden), lyricists Michael Korie (Grey Gardens) and Amy Powers (the two multi-platinum Sunset Boulevard hits) and book writer Michael Weller (screenwriter for Hair and Ragtime).
