Center Theatre Group will end its run of Dreamgirls, Music by Henry Krieger, Lyrics and Book by Tom Eyen, Directed and Choreographed by Robert Longbottom, and Co-Choreography by Shane Sparks on April 4, 2010.
Virtuosic writer-performer David Cale will bring his latest work to the Center Theatre Group/Kirk Douglas Theatre this spring when his 'Palomino' replaces the previously announced 'Tynan' as the third production of the Douglas' 2009-2010 season, it was announced today by CTG Artistic Director Michael Ritchie.
National Corporate Theatre Fund (NCTF) will hold its Annual Chairman's Awards Gala and benefit on Monday, April 19 at the St. Regis New York hotel. This year, NCTF Chairman James S. Turley, Chairman & CEO of Ernst & Young, will honor Nathan Lane (returning to Broadway this season in The Addams Family), set designer Eugene Lee (Wicked) and Wells Fargo & Company. Accepting the award on behalf of Wells Fargo will be Joe Kirk, Regional President for New York and Connecticut. All net proceeds of the event will be distributed as the NCTF/WELLS FARGO FUND FOR NEW AMERICAN THEATRE.

'The Subject Was Roses' replaces the previously announced 'Speed-the-Plow' by David Mamet as the first production in the Taper's 2010 season at the Los Angeles Music Center, February 10 through March 21, 2010. Opening is set for February 21.

Center Theatre Group (CTG) was recently awarded a three-year, $1 million grant from The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation that will support the expansion of CTG's New Play Production Program. The expansion will focus on the commissioning, development, and production of non-text-based work, which is often underrepresented in the programming for large regional theatres such as CTG. The grant will also place an emphasis on supporting works from Los Angeles-based artists.

The Civilians' Artistic Director Steve Cosson ('This Beautiful City'), composer Michael Friedman ('This Beautiful City,' 'Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson') and book writer Bess Wohl ('Cats Talk Back,' 'In') have begun investigations in Los Angeles for an untitled porn musical. The new project from the award-winning investigative theatre company is commissioned by Center Theatre Group, which presented The Civilians' 'This Beautiful City' at the Kirk Douglas Theatre in 2008.
