Medieval Mystery Plays Get Modern Twist for Christmas in the Streets of New York for Strangers and Other Angels
Theatre-lovers, theologians, strangers and other angels are invited into the streets of New York for a free theatrical event that mines the story of the first Christmas and celebrates the abundance of community. Starting at the Museum of the City of New York (located at 5th Avenue at 104th Street) on Saturday, December 6th at 4 p.m., Compagnia de' Colombari, an international collective of performing artists, including Tony and Obie Award-winners and acclaimed musicians, will present Strangers and Other Angels, the medieval mystery play vividly re-imagined for the 21st century.

Due to strong tickets sales and critical reception, Classic Stage Company, under the leadership of Artistic Director Brian Kulick and Executive Director Jessica R. Jenen, has extended the run of its new production of William Shakespeare's THE TEMPEST starring Tony Award winner Mandy Patinkin through Sunday, October 19.

Classic Stage Company will present Obie Award winner Michael Cumpsty in the title role in Shakespeare's Richard III beginning performances Thursday, November 1 at CSC (136 East 13th Street). The production kicks of CSC's 40th anniversary season. Co-directed by Kulick and Cumpsty, Richard III will play a limited engagement from Thursday, November 1 through Sunday, December 9. The official opening night is Tuesday, November 13 at 7PM.

Producers of the hit musical Grey Gardens announced today that the opportunity for theater-goers to see the two most acclaimed performances of the 2006-2007 Broadway season - those of Christine Ebersole and Mary Louise Wilson, who both won Tony Awards for their work in the musical - will be through Sunday, July 29th only. On that date, Wilson will give her final performance as 'Edith Bouvier Beale' in the acclaimed musical at The Walter Kerr Theatre
