The Toronto International Film Festival® unveiled its lineup of 12 films for this year's Platform programme, following on the success of last year's Platform

Late summer is often a barren wasteland for children's entertainment, but not this year.  Front Porch Theatre, an itinerant local theatre company, will offer a free family-friendly musical in the backyard of its directors, Joy Donley and Michael Pearce Donley (Triple Espresso). 

Hennepin Theatre Trust announced today it will be presenting three productions by The Daniel Group at the New Century Theatre (street level of City Center, 615 Hennepin Ave., Minneapolis) including Triple Espresso - a highly caffeinated comedy, which moves from its 21-year home at the Music Box Theatre. Also included are That Wonder Boy and To Begin With. All three shows are produced by the Minneapolis-based Daniel Group, whose mission is to provide top-quality, professional theater and entertainment with wholesome productions that positively impact audiences.

As BroadwayWorld reported earlier this week, Patty Duke, who received a supporting actress Oscar for the role of Helen Keller in THE MIRACLE WORKER, died at age 69.

SAG-AFTRA mourns the passing of former Screen Actors Guild President Anna Patty Duke Pearce, better known as Patty Duke. Duke was elected president in 1985, becoming the second female president of the union. Duke was an Oscar and Emmy-winning actor, labor activist, and pioneering advocate for mental health issues. She was 69.

The pleasantly earnest new show boasts nice music and fine performances, but lacks engaging storytelling.

With direction by Tony Award winner Walter Bobbie and choreography by Josh Rhodes, Bright Star began performances on Thursday, February 25th, 2016 at the Cort Theatre (138 West 48th Street), with an official opening night set for tomorrow, March 24th, 2016. Bob Stromberg's comic theatrical show That Wonder Boy is honored to be part of the 2015 United Solo Theatre Festival in New York City. Its initially scheduled show on October 30 (9 PM) sold out quickly and a second is scheduled for October 31 (2PM). Only a few seats remain. With Sexy Laundry opening tonight, the entire cast roster for the theatre's biggest season is almost complete. Nearly 300 Minnesota artists - including actors, directors, designers and technical operators - will mount 18 productions on two stages. The season lineup confirms Park Square's commitment to the work of women writers like Amy Herzog, Michele Riml and Alice Walker. The casting emphasizes Park Square as a home for local artists of color, from returning favorites like James A. Williams, T. Mychael Rambo and Regina Williams to dozens of debuts like Dominique Wooten, Kurt Kwan and Sarah Ochs.

The British Academy of Film and Television Arts announced the nominations for the 2014 EE British Academy Film Awards (BAFTA) and Gravity leads with 11 nominations, while 12 Years a Slave and American Hustle each received 10 nominations.

Now in its 25th year, Fresh Ink has presented more than 120 plays, with many going on to become full-length productions.
