Single Tickets for the Oakland East Bay Symphony's 2014-2015 Season to Go On Sale 10/1

Single tickets will go on sale October 1 for individual concerts of the Oakland East Bay Symphony's 2014-2015 season. The six-concert, 26th season—Music Director and Conductor Michael Morgan's 25th with the Orchestra-- will feature the world premiere of a new work for violin and orchestra by Grammy Award-winning composer/violinist Mads Tolling, the West Coast premiere of Chris Brubeck and Guillaume Saint-James' Brothers in Arts for jazz quintet and orchestra, a semi-staged performance ofLeonard Bernstein's Candide, pianists Llewellyn Sanchez-Werner and Richard Glazier, Notes from Mexico, a holiday tribute to Pete Seeger and more. A pre-concert talk will begin one hour before each performance, and the 2014-2015 season at the Paramount Theatre runs November 7, 2014 through May 15, 2015. 46th Annual Bear Valley Music Festival Runs Now thru 8/10

The festival will feature guest artists The Brothers Comatose, Tommy Castro & the Painkillers, the Delphi Trio, Richrad Glazier, Taylor Eigsti, JP Jofre, Iron Horse, and many more. Orchestra concerts feature music from Rossini, Haydn, Mozart, Mendelssohn, Beethoven, and more.

The Oakland East Bay Symphony, the Craneway Pavilion, and the City of Richmond Present TARGET INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATION, 7/3

The Oakland East Bay Symphony, the Craneway Pavilion, located inside the historic Ford Point Building on the waterfront in Richmond, and the City of Richmond will again join forces to host a family-friendly Target Independence Day Celebration led by the Oakland East Bay Symphony and Music Director Michael Morgan on Thursday, July 3. The evening will also include pre-performance entertainment, food and fireworks. Craneway Pavilion, located on 25 waterfront acres, delivers spectacular views of the San Francisco skyline, with floor-to-ceiling windows throughout the entire event space as well as a 20,000 square foot patio, perfect for viewing the City of Richmond's firework display. The event is free to the public and in the six years since its inception has become one of the Bay Area's most popular and talked-about Independence Day Celebrations, made possible thanks to the generous support of Target. Parking will be available beginning at 5 pm and access to the Craneway Pavilion and Wharf will begin at 6:30 pm. Music, beer, wine and finger food will top the program for the first annual Oakland East Bay Symphony's Bach & Brew event scheduled for tonight, May 17, 6-9 pm at Linden Street Brewery, 95 Linden Street, Oakland. Linden Street craft brews by brew master Adam Lamoreaux will be featured and also on sample will be beers and artisanal wines made by members of the Oakland East Bay Symphony. Additional food items will be available from gourmet off-the-grid food trucks and members of the Oakland East Bay Symphony will perform throughout the evening under the baton of Music Director and conductor Michael Morgan. The event is sponsored by Bell Investment Advisors, Mueller Nicholls Builders and Linden Street Brewery and all proceeds will benefit the Oakland East Bay Symphony. Oakland East Bay Symphony Closes 25th Season with BERLIOZ REQUIEM Tonight

Every inch of the historic Paramount Theatre stage in Oakland will be packed with the complete, 25-year-old Oakland East Bay Symphony, the 55-year-old Oakland Symphony Chorus, 50-year-old Oakland Youth Orchestra, Music Director and conductor Michael Morgan and guest tenor Thomas Glenn, who will collectively pull out all the stops in one performance only of Berlioz' monumental Requiem tonight, May 16, at 8 pm.

The Oakland Youth Orchestra Appoints Omid Zoufonoun as New Principal Conductor

Oakland East Bay Symphony Music Director and Oakland Youth Orchestra Artistic Director Michael Morgan has announced the appointment of conductor, composer and educator Omid Zoufonoun as new Principal Conductor of the Oakland Youth Orchestra. Mr. Zoufonoun takes the podium after Maestro Morgan and Bryan Nies have shared conducting duties for the Youth Orchestra's 2013-2014 50th anniversary season. Cellist Jay Campbell to Perform at Columbia University's Italian Academy, 5/7

Columbia University's Italian Academy for Advanced Studies presents the adventurous young cellist Jay Campbell, First Prize Winner of the 2012 Concert Artists Guild (CAG) Victor Elmaleh Competition, on its Spring 2014 concert series Wednesday evening, May 7th at 7:00 p.m. in the Teatro of the Italian Academy, 1161 Amsterdam Ave., New York, NY. Cape Cod Chamber Music Festival to Celebrate 35th Anniversary With Gala Concert at Dimenna Center, 4/8

Celebrating its 35th anniversary, the Cape Cod Chamber Music Festival will present a concert open to the public for the first time in New York on Tuesday evening, April 8, 2014 at 7:45 p.m. at the DiMenna Center for Classical Music, Cary Hall, 450 West 37th Street, between Ninth and Tenth Avenues. A special orchestra-the Cape Cod Gala Orchestra, conducted by Liam Burke-has been assembled for this occasion. Noted WQXR radio announcer Jeff Spurgeon will host the evening and Nancy B. Barry, First President of the Festival, as well as Honorary Artistic Chair Charles Hamlen, V.P. of Orchestra of St. Luke's and Co-Founder of IMG Artists, will be on hand for the event.

The Oakland Youth Orchestra Celebrates Its 50th Anniversary with a Benefit Gala, 5/4

The 50-year-old Oakland Youth Orchestra will celebrate its golden anniversary with a benefit gala concert, dinner and auction Sunday, May 4, beginning at 5 pm at the Greek Orthodox Cathedral of the Ascension, 4700 Lincoln Avenue in Oakland. The evening, which will raise funds for the Youth Orchestra's award-winning and far-reaching education and outreach programs, will feature a concert by its extremely talented young musicians cocktails and dinner and live and silent auctions. The program will include the world premiere of Where Shadow Chases Light, a new work by young Indian composer Juhi Bansal in her Oakland East Bay Symphony debut, commissioned as part of the Symphony's New Visions/New Vistas Commissioning Project, supported by a grant from The James Irvine Foundation. The evening will also feature sitar soloistStephen Slawek performing Ravi Shankar's Concert No. 1 for Sitar and Orchestra, excerpts from Philip Glass and Ravi Shankar's Passages and Beethoven's Symphony No. 7 in A Major, Op. 92.
