The Denver Center Theatre Company announced its lineup of productions for the 2012/13. Artistic Director Kent Thompson continues the company's tradition of presenting new work with two world premieres that were read as part of the 2012 Colorado New Play Summit as well as a family production. The Denver Center Theatre Company (DCTC) concluded its Seventh Annual Colorado New Play Summit on a high note, with the announcement that one of its premieres has been signed for a production in New York. The three-day festival, which has rapidly become one of the nation's top tier new play festivals, included multiple standing-room-only showings of three play readings, a staged reading of a musical, a multimedia workshop, and two fully-produced main stage plays, one of which - The Whale, by 2011 Obie winner Samuel D. Hunter - will now be presented in October 2012 at New York's Playwrights Horizons.

Keen Teens, the educational theatre partnership between Off-Broadway's Keen Company and the publishing company Playscripts, Inc. has selected the writers for the program's sixth season. Michael Mitnick, Janine Nabers, and Kathryn Walat have been commissioned to write thirty minute, large cast plays, which will be produced with student actors Off-Broadway in May 2012.
