Huntington and Northeastern University form Alliance for 2017-2018 Season

The Huntington Theatre Company and Northeastern University will form a new educational alliance focused on professional experiential learning for young theatre artists beginning with the 2017-2018 season. The relationship will allow the Huntington to continue its educational mission of preparing students for careers in the theatre industry while aligning with Northeastern's commitment to integrating academic study with real world experience.

Huntington to Work with Bruner/Cott & Associates for Huntington Avenue Theatre Project

The Huntington Theatre Company's longtime home on Huntington Avenue remains secure, and the Huntington will continue to produce world-class theatre there for generations to come. Beginning July 1, 2017, the building known as the Boston University Theatre will become the Huntington Avenue Theatre, controlled on a permanent basis by the Huntington Theatre Company.

Uproarious Comedy RIPCORD by David Lindsay-Abaire Begins Friday 5/26

The Huntington Theatre Company will present the uproarious comedy Ripcord by Pulitzer Prize winner and Boston native David Lindsay-Abaire (Good People, Rabbit Hole) and directed by Jessica Stone (Vanya and Sonya and Masha and Spike). Performances begin Friday, May 26 at the South End / Calderwood Pavilion at the BCA. 

Huntington's SPOTLIGHT SPECTACULAR Raises Over $1,000,000

Over 500 guests honored Wimberly Award recipients Mayor Martin J. Walsh and Tony and Grammy Award winner Billy Porter, while raising over $1,000,000 (with additional gifts still coming in) to support the Huntington and its programs, including its renowned education and community initiatives at the Spotlight Spectacular on Monday, April 24. "Thousands of young people come to the Huntington to see productions each year through our student matinee program either at no charge or for a nominal fee," said Managing Director Michael Maso. "This program is the centerpiece of all our education programs, the place where opportunity begins and lives are changed."

Center Stage Jackson Announces SHREK THE MUSICAL as Summer Main Stage Musical

Center Stage Jackson is thrilled to present its summer Main Stage Musical, Shrek the Musical. This family-friendly musical will run June 9, 10, 16, and 17 at 7:30pm, with Sunday matinees June 11 and 18 at 3:00pm at Jackson College's Potter Center, 2111 Emmons Rd. Jackson, MI 49201.

Huntington's New Shops to Be Located in Everett, Massachusetts

After an extensive search of the Greater Boston area for a new space to house the construction and painting of their theatrical sets and props, the Huntington Theatre Company Production Center will relocate to 46 Garden Street in Everett, Massachusetts effective July 1, 2017. The Huntington's current production facility located at 252-258 Huntington Avenue in Boston, next door to the Boston University Theatre, will become the site of a new building developed by QMG Huntington LLC, who purchased the lot in May 2016. The Huntington Theatre Company will retain the Huntington Avenue Theatre in Boston (known as the BU Theatre until June 30, 2017) on a permanent basis, and will continue to produce world-class theatre there and at the Calderwood Pavilion at the BCA.

Huntington to Honor Mayor Walsh & Billy Porter at 2017 SPOTLIGHT SPECTACULAR

Mayor Martin J. Walsh and Tony and Grammy Award-winning artist and Topdog/Underdog director Billy Porter will be honored with the Wimberly Award at the 2017 Spotlight Spectacular on Monday, April 24, 2017. The Huntington's festive annual event raises money to support the Huntington's programs, including its award-winning youth, education, and community initiatives that reach more than 39,000 annually.

Irresistible Comedy BAD DATES to Complete Huntington's 2017-2018 Season

The 15th anniversary production of Theresa Rebeck's irresistible comedy Bad Dates will complete the Huntington Theatre Company's 2017-2018 season. Bad Dates will be directed by Huntington favorite Jessica Stone (This season's Ripcord and Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike at the Huntington), and the play joins the previously announced seven titles in the 2017-2018 season.

The Huntington Theatre Company presents the explosive Pulitzer Prize winner Topdog/Underdog by Suzan-Lori Parks and directed by Tony, Grammy, and Drama Desk Award winner Billy Porter (The Colored Museum at the Huntington and Lola in Kinky Boots on Broadway). Performances run March 10 - April 9, 2017 at the Avenue of the Arts / BU Theatre.

Huntington Theatre Company, Boston's leading professional theatre, announces its 2017-2018 season. The Huntington has long been an anchor cultural institution of Huntington Avenue, the Avenue of the Arts, and will remain so on a permanent basis. The Huntington's upcoming season will include productions in the Huntington Avenue Theatre (known as the BU Theatre through June 30), and plans are underway to convert the theatre into a first-rate, modern venue with expanded services to audiences, artists, and the community. The 36th season will include four plays at the Huntington Avenue Theatre, as well as three plays at the Wimberly Theatre and one special event in the Roberts Studio Theatre, both located in the Calderwood Pavilion at the BCA in the South End.

Huntington to Host 12th Poetry Out Loud Semi-Final This March

The Huntington Theatre Company's Department of Education celebrates the 12th anniversary of the national Poetry Out Loud contest, having facilitated the competition in Massachusetts since its inception in 2006. This year, 76 high school students from across the Commonwealth of Massachusetts will participate in four regional semi-final contests March 4 and March 5.

Huntington Theatre Co. Extends Ayad Akhtar's THE WHO AND THE WHAT

 The Huntington Theatre Company will present the provocative and moving drama The Who & the What by Pulitzer Prize-winning author Ayad Akhtar (Disgraced) and directed by Huntington Associate Producer M. Bevin O'Gara (Milk Like Sugar, Becoming Cuba). Performances begin Friday, March 31 and by popular demand the production has been extended through May 7, 2017 at the South End / Calderwood Pavilion at the BCA.

Laury Teneus Tops 2017 Boston August Wilson Monologue Competition

Laury Teneus of Edward M. Kennedy Academy for Health Careers took first place on Monday, January 30, 2017 with her performance as Black Mary from Gem of the Ocean at the Boston Regional Finals of the August Wilson Monologue Competition, held for the seventh year by the Education Department of the Huntington Theatre Company, the playwright's longtime artistic home.

Bevin O'Gara (Milk Like Sugar and Becoming Cuba at the Huntington). Performances now run March 31 - May 7, 2017 at the Calderwood Pavilion at the BCA / South End.
