BECAUSE OF THE WOMEN: The Histories of Herodotus (just the high points) as told by Tom Cayler 5-7 February, Pontine Theatre presents NYC-based performance artist, Tom Cayler, in his original production, Because of the Women: The Histories of Herodotus (just the high points) as told by Tom Cayler.  Performances are offered Friday @7:30, Saturday @4  & Sunday @ 2. 

Tony Nominee Kate Baldwin & Paolo Montalban to Lead THE KING AND I at Lyric Opera of Chicago

Lyric Opera of Chicago announced today that Tony Award-nominated Kate Baldwin and Paolo Montalban will star as Anna Leonowens and the King of Siam in Lyric's grand-scale production of Rodgers and Hammerstein's The King and I, April 29-May 22, 2016 (press opening April 30). A graduate of Northwestern University, Baldwin last appeared onstage in Chicago in the Broadway-bound musical Big Fish. Montalban has been seen in Broadway productions of Pacific Overtures and The King and I, and is best known for starring as the Prince in ABC's telefilm of Rodgers and Hammerstein's Cinderella, alongside Brandy and Whitney Houston.

Kyle Dean Massey, Jenni Barber & More Set for Lexington Theatre Company's 'Concert With The Stars'

The Lexington Theatre Company is in final preparations for its second 'Concert With The Stars,' January 16, 2016, at 8:00pm at The Lexington Opera House. This year's line-up of stars includes Jenni Barber (Wicked, Annie, 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee), Stephen R. Buntrock (A Little Night Music, Oklahoma, Beauty & The Beast), Erin Dilly (A Christmas Story, Nice Work If You Can Get It, Tony nominee for Chittty Chitty Bang Bang) and Kyle Dean Massey (Pippin, Next to Normal, Wicked, ABC's 'Nashville'), alongside collegiate and local talent - illustrating the mission of this new professional theatre company in Lexington, Kentucky. 'Concert With the Stars' is sponsored by KentuckyOne Health.

Kate Baldwin, Kacie Sheik & More Will Lead Benefit Reading of TODD & MITZY

Michael Kimmel's (The Last Goodbye) new play will be read for the first time in New York on November 30th, 2015 at 7:30 PM for a one night-only benefit reading in Theater 511 at Ars Nova (511 West 54thStreet), directed by Molly Beach Murphy (Big Bend in the Red Dirt Desert) and featuring an all-star cast. Kimmel is also the author of Songbird, which premiered and is running currently at 59e59, now extended through December 6th. Proceeds will benefit Healthy Birth Day & Count The Kicks, which is dedicated to the prevention of stillbirth and infant death through education, advocacy, and support. The evening is stage managed by Michelle Heller (Les Miserables) and produced by Allison Bressi (Songbird).

BWW Review: SONGBIRD at 59E59 is a True Gem

See 'Songbird,' a gem of a show, now at 59E59 through November 29th. It is written by Michael Kimmel, directed by JV Mercanti with original music and lyrics by Lauren Prichard. Based on 'The Seagull' by Anton Chekhov, it is set in Tennessee and features an excellent country music score.

SONGBIRD Set for 59E59 Theaters' 5A Season

59E59 Theaters (Elysabeth Kleinhans, Artistic Director; Peter Tear, Executive Producer; Brian Beirne, Managing Director) is thrilled to welcome SONGBIRD, written by Michael Kimmel, with music & lyrics by Lauren Pritchard, and directed by JV Mercanti. Produced by Allison Bressi and Diana Buckhantz by special association with Less Than Rent Theatre for the 5A Season, SONGBIRD begins performances on Tuesday, October 20 for a limited engagement through Sunday, November 29. Opening Night is Wednesday, October 28 at 7 PM. The performance schedule is Tuesday - Thursday at 7 PM; Friday at 8 PM; Saturday at 2 PM & 8 PM; and Sunday at 3 PM. Please note: there is an added performance on Sunday, October 25 at 7 PM; there is no performance on Thursday, November 26 in observance of Thanksgiving. Tickets are $70 ($49 for 59E59 Members).
